Lego is adding to its Speed Champions line with the Azores orange McLaren 720S. The supercar was just revealed last month at the Geneva motor show with a 710-hp, twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. This will join the McLaren P1 Lego set already available. This set, which goes on sale in June and should retail for about $16 (£12.99), comes with more than a miniature McLaren, though.
A minifigure car designer, a design studio desk, a cup of coffee for those tough Monday mornings, an original design sketch and a 3-D-printed model car accompany the 720S set. A minifigure helmet is also provided so the designer can safely race when the day’s work is done.
“Building a model like this gives the next generation of McLaren enthusiasts a taste of just how exhilarating that moment is for designers,” says Rob Melville, McLaren’s chief designer.
Lego says the set is for builders age 7-plus and supercar enthusiasts alike — which covers Lego fans young, old and all points in between. We’ll definitely be adding this to our collection.
