Baume & Mercier is known for offering classical Swiss watchmaking at relatively affordable prices, and an entry point to the Richemont Group’s otherwise mostly very expensive brands. The Classima collection offers simple, dressy designs paired with solid specs and construction. Now, three new watches add some stylistic and functional options with blue dials and useful complications.
The most complicated of the three is the Classima Chronograph Complete Calendar, powered by a Valjoux 7751 movement cramming tons of information onto the dial without getting excessively busy. Next is the Classima Dual Time, a GMT watch in which the second time zone is displayed in 24-hour format via a ETA 2893 movement. Finally, there is a simple time-and-date version with a small seconds sub-dial courtesy of the Sellita 260 movement, called the Small Seconds.
All three watches feature automatic winding, 42mm cases, and 50m of water-resistance. They also feature sapphire crystalz, applied stick indices and Roman numerals, a hobnail-textured inner dial and black discs with white text for the date and other calendar displays. On leather straps, the price in USD for the Small Seconds starts at around $2,520; the Dual Time starts at ~$2,860; and the Chronograph Complete Calendar starts at ~$4,590. Each is just a bit more money on a steel bracelet.
