Eight years ago I invested in my first minimalist wallet. After years of using a chunky bi-fold, making long drives across the Pacific Northwest, my lower-back was worse for wear. I wanted a wallet I could carry in my front pocket, something that wouldn’t throw my hips out of alignment while sitting, so I got a small card holder. Over the years, I’ve used a variety of leather minimalist wallets with both glued and stitched constructions, but they all eventually fell apart due to failure of seams and stitching.

Recently I encountered the Arc’Teryx Veilance Casing Card Wallet. Unlike traditional card holders, it features a laminate construction that is both low-profile and durable. I was very skeptical of the design at first, based on previous experience with glued wallets, but Veilance Chief Brand Director Taka Kasuga showed me his personal Casing Card Wallet which had been used for over a year. It had stretched to accommodate his cards but didn’t show any signs of structural failure.

The wallet utilizes a lamination process that fixes Veilance-spec water-resistant Horween leather to a durable nylon backing. The construction is precise and clean, and the design features two card slots which can hold up to four cards each. It has no exterior branding, so it can be whatever you want it to be. Use it as your daily wallet with suits or jeans, or use it as an extra wallet for business events or travel. The aesthetic is far more versatile than other options on the market.

Now at East Dane, the Casing Card Wallet is 25 percent off and costs $131. While this is admittedly still a lot of money, it is one of the best leather card holders you can buy.
