Zenvo TSR-S, the Danish Bugatti, heads to the Riyadh Car Show

Zenvo Automotive was founded in 2007 in Præstø, Denmark with the intention of building limited-edition hypercars, the first prototype was the TS1 that was developed into the TS1 GT, a TSR track-only car and the ultimate flagship, the TSR-S with a lightweight carbon fiber body built in-house and powered by a flat-plane, twin-turbocharged V8 engine that develops a massive 1,177 hp … but the most intricate detail about the Zenvo TSR-S is still that Centripetal rear wing, a Zenvo patent, that pivots depending on steering input to increase downforce to the axle that requires it.

Only 5 units of these Zenvo models are built each year, so these are very exclusive indeed, and that is exactly why it makes sense for Zenvo to bring their masterpieces to the Riyadh Car Show, held in the capital of  Saudi Arabia between November 18 and 28, naturally the new Ishvid Perlemor (white) with the carbon fiber wheels will be shown, but their bright Baltisk Blå (blue) will join the stand in the middle of the show.

Renowned YouTube channel CarWow has recently published a video where Mat Watson drives the blue Zenvo TSR-S on narrow UK roads and talks about how this 5.8-Liter V8 twin-turbo engine with almost 1,200 hp makes you think twice about buying a Bugatti Chiron, the Zenvo reaches 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, goes to 200 km/h in less than 6.8 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 325 km/h … all for €1,45,000 apiece, while a Bugatti Chiron costs about double that, while the latter takes 2.4 seconds to 100 km/h, 6.5 seconds to 200 km/h and goes out of breath at 420 km/h … so it’s extremely fast in top speed, but otherwise the Zenvo TSR-S is just as fast for half the money, take a look at the CarWow video below:

Now we have to be honest about this, you can’t really compare a Bugatti with over a century of history and a massive legacy behind her, to a make that’s been around for less than 15 years now, and hasn’t seen too many customer cars out on the road yet … truth to be told, I wouldn’t be surprised if you show up at a car event in your €1.5 million Zenvo TSR-S some of the visitors might confuse it with a kit car … that would never happen if you exit from your Bugatti … just saying.

But back to Zenvo at the Riyhadh Car Show, Angela Hartman, CEO of Zenvo Automotive said: “It is an exceptional opportunity for the company to be able to showcase our work at one of the most talked-about events this year. The Riyadh Car Show is already a highly anticipated automotive show that everyone has on their calendars, and thank the House of Saud for extending their invitation to Zenvo to participate. We are looking forward to welcoming both our customers and visitors of the show to our stand to see the TRS-S, as well as discuss future plans for the brand as we head into a new year.”

I have personally seen the blue Zenvo STR-S at a supercar show in the Netherlands a few years ago, and let’s not forget Zenvo also came to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, bringing both the white and the blue cars, so now it’s time to bring these hypercars back to the Middle East after touring Europe with them, Zenvo will bring people from their commercial, sales, and management team to the Riyadh Car Show, the prestigious event.

And we’ve just learned none other than YouTube star Tim, better known as Shmee150 has just signed an order form for a Zenvo TSR-S hypercar, no info yet on specs, but if his new Lamborghini Huracan STO is anything to go by, with her Viola Bast exterior combined with gloss black and bright yellow parts, we might be seeing a rather wild Zenvo STR-S in the near future, check out his announcement video below:

I for one cant’ wait to see a Zenvo TSR-S at one of the car events we are able to visit next year, I’m looking forward to seeing some impressive combination with clear carbon fiber on this aggressive looking hypercar.

Zenvo at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

Finally, we are able to visit the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed again this year after the 2020 edition was canceled for obvious reasons, between June 8 and June 11 we’ll be able to admire some of the world’s most impressive supercars and hypercars, both as a static display, and in high-speed action on the impressive ‘hill climb’ session, and the best part perhaps … not all of the cars you can admire at the FoS are street legal.

Ever since they showed the ST1 at the Goodwood FoS in 2015, Danish car builder Zenvo hasn’t missed an edition, so for this 2021 edition they are bringing the thunder from Denmark once again, not one, not two … but three different Zenvo will be shown at this year’s FoS, and while two will probably be just there for show, one of the limited edition TSR-S hypercars will race on the legendary Goodwood Hill with Zenvo’s own production manager, Alberto Solera, at the wheel.

Zenvo will put two of their impressive TSR-S hypercars for visitors to admire, with 1,177 hp from a twin-turbocharged 5.8-Liter V8 engine, the TSR-S can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds, only 4 seconds later the tacho will show 200 km/h … the top speed for this amazing hypercar is electronically limited to 325 km/h, and keeping the car firmly down to the track comes courtesy of the patented Zenvo active Centripetal wing at the rear.

This very special, active rear wing will tilt upward under braking to act as an air brake, but much more impressive to look at is the angle of the wing that changes when the Zenvo TSR-S takes a corner on the track at speed to change downforce actively to the inner side of the car for minimal body roll … and it just looks cool too.

The Zenvo TSR-S at the Michelin Supercar Paddock at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2021

The absolutely stunning looking Baltisk Blå (pearl metallic blue) TSR-S will be shown inside the Michelin Supercar Paddock during the 2021 Goodwood FoS, the place to be for visitors to admire the most recent, state-of-the-art, most powerful, and record-setting cars from all over the world … supercar and hypercar heaven for sure.

But Zenvo is bringing a second TSR-S to Goodwood, their more recent Ishvid Perlemor (pearl metallic white) finished one with the plethora of clear carbon fiber parts, the car this intended to showcase at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, but as that was canceled too, and just about every subsequent event, the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed will probably be a perfect possibility for many to view this car for the first time.

Angela Kashina, CEO of Zenvo Automotive, said: “Goodwood Festival of Speed is a highlight of our year – it presents a fantastic opportunity to spend time with automotive aficionados and car connoisseurs, and present our limited-edition vehicles. The world-famous event is one of the best stages to demonstrate our TSR-S, with onlookers getting the opportunity to hear its sonorous soundtrack as it performs. After last year’s absence, we are eagerly looking forward to welcoming both existing and new customers as well as enthusiasts to experience the Zenvo brand.”

But wait, there is more … all the way from Denmark, Zenvo will bring their TS1 GT demo car (the two TSR-S are already located in the UK at the time of writing), to be positioned at its team base near the Goodwood circuit. The TS1 GT also comes with a twin-turbocharged 5.8-Liter V8 engine and a sequential injection … power output in the GT is 1,104 hp at 7,100 rpm, but it takes 3.0 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, and while that’s 0.2 seconds slower than the TSR-S, the top speed of the TS1 GT is higher with an impressive 375 km/h.

The Zenvo TSR-S is back

The Zenvo Automotive TSR-S is a hypercar in every sense of the word, being the street-legal version of the TSR race car, the ‘Street’ version comes with a 5.8-liter twin-supercharged flat-plane V8 engine capable of delivering no less than 1,177bhp, add the lightweight carbon fiber body and state-of-the-art aerodynamics, and you end up with an extremely impressive hypercar as if that massive rear wing didn’t impress enough.

And we must discuss that rear wing a little further, it is called an active Centripetal wing … yes, I had to read that twice too, and I also took a look at the documentation on this wing. In fact, it’s simple, this patented rear wing moves … but not as you might expect, on this Zenvo TSR-S this wing moves on two axes, when the driver hits the brakes, this rear wing lifts up into the air and effectively becomes an air-brake, but when cornering at speed the wing tilts to increase downforce on the axle that needs it … and as an added bonus, it looks cool too.

Some figures perhaps? Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes a mere 2.8 seconds, in 6.8 seconds you’ll reach 200 km/h behind the steering wheel of the Zenvo TSR-S, and to keep you from getting overly confident of your driving capabilities, the top speed has been electronically limited … at 325 km/h, now that’s more than enough to get you into a heap of trouble with the arm of the law on the highway.

The engine, the aerodynamics, and the carbon fiber body are all produced in-house by Zenvo, even the gearbox is from their hand, and it’s not just any gearbox either, the Zenvo TSR-S comes with a hybrid variant of the 7-speed sequential gearbox with helical-cut dog gears, called a ‘Dual Gearbox’, the driver can switch between a rather comfortable gearbox for ‘Road use’, or go for a more intimidating, direct power-shift ‘Race’ setup when the opportunity presents itself, just by using a switch on the steering wheel.

Back in March 2020, Zenvo had an amazing looking white TSR-R ready to be shown to the world at the Geneva Motor Show, sadly the event was canceled, and the car never got its public unveiling, instead, the car was showcased during a private media event at Zenvo’s HQ in Præstø, Denmark. This was the first car ever to come with full fragmented carbon fiber wheels and a bespoke weave design to exposed carbon fiber body sections, fragmented carbon fiber is created by hand-cut and expertly layered fragments of carbon fiber to create a special finish, these wheels weigh about 15 kilograms less than their aluminum counterparts.

If you would like to add a Zenvo TSR-S to your garage, you might be in for a long wait, each of these hypercars made in Denmark will set you back at least €1,450,000 before options, and Zenvo is limiting the production of this street-legal race car to only 5 units per year to maintain exclusivity, Zenvo is working on a worldwide dealer network, in April 2021 the MOHR GROUP in Germany became an official Zenvo dealer, both the TS1 GT and the TSR-S will be shown in their 1,600 m2  space in Motorworld München, interesting is the fact both the TS1 GT and the TSR-S are homologated for Germany and Euro 6 compliant.

And now Zenvo is looking at the UK market, they have shipped the bright blue TSR-S to the UK to showcase their flagship model to both customers and brand followers during the 2021 Summer months, Zenvo hasn’t released a schedule yet as to where the TSR-R will be available for test drives during events and gatherings, but it seems many fans are waiting in line to get behind the wheel of this amazing hypercar, Zenvo is working on a global expansion plan, so it might not be too long before the Zenvo TSR-R crosses the Atlantic and puts down her wheels on US soil.

The tilt-winged Zenvo TSR-S now has carbon fiber wheels

Danish auto manufacturer Zenvo only produces five hand-built cars each year, so it’s a fairly big deal every single time one is completed. Not only is each car unique per customer requests, they’re also unique due to newly in-house-developed technologies, options, and techniques. In the case of its most recent build of the TSR-S supercar, it has previously unavailable features such as carbon fiber wheels and a new “hybrid” transmission.

The TSR-S is mostly known for its insane actively tilting rear wing (see the video below), but this most recent iteration should be known for its beautiful carbon fiber work. In addition to the numerous interior and exterior panels and parts made from traditional carbon fiber weave, the hood features a beautiful blue-tinted geometrically designed weave. On the side of the car, ZENVO is seen in a lower stripe with a hand-laid opposing weave pattern. Zenvo calls this feature a “bespoke watermark carbon fiber graphic.” Customers have the options to color-tint anything that shows exposed carbon fiber, and numerous sections can be designed with special weaves and graphics.

Yet, the standout carbon fiber feature on this car is not a weave at all. Zenvo used what it calls fragmented carbon fiber, also known as forged composites as seen on Lamborghinis. Essentially, it’s crushed or flaked carbon fibers shaped and molded within resins, which provide a distinct artistically chaotic look. Zenvo used the fragmented carbon fiber on the engine and for the wheels.

The wheels are created with hand-cut pieces that are then hand-placed, and each one takes two technicians about one week to complete. Using carbon fiber wheels reduces weight by about 133 pounds, as each wheel is roughly 33 pounds lighter than an equal aluminum wheel.

This TSR-S also has an altered powertrain. The 1,177-horsepower twin-supercharged 5.8-liter flat-plane crank V8 remains, but the transmission is new. Zenvo’s seven-speed sequential gearbox with helical-cut dog gears is joined by a “hybrid module which yields a power boost, further traction control, and even the addition of an eighth forward gear with the electric motor providing reverse drive.” No further details were provided.

This level of exclusivity and customization is easily a seven-figure endeavor. The TSR-S starts at $1,619,000.

Zenvo Automotive Brings the TSR-S Hypercar to Geneva

The Danish Car Company Returns With a Winner

Zenvo Automotive brought its car called the TSR-S to the Geneva Motor Show to be showcased alongside all of the other jaw-dropping reveals that have happened over the last day or so. The track-focused car was showcased in a Grotta Azzura blue livery. It’s a seriously beautiful machine and packs plenty of power to back it up.

The TSR-S comes with a twin-supercharged 5.8-liter V8 engine that produces a whopping 1,177 hp and a neck-wrenching 811 lb-ft of torque. Mated to that insane engine is a seven-speed transmission with paddle shifters. That combination is good for a 0 to 60 mph time of just 2.8 seconds. The car can make it to 124 mph in just 6.8 seconds. Zenvo thought it best to electronically limit the car’s top speed to 202 mph.

The engine isn’t the only thing about this car worth taking note. The hypercar also has what’s called a Zentripetal Wing. The wing can act as an air brake, and it can also help in the corners thanks to its multi-axis function. “Like all our cars, the Zenvo TSR-S is 100% Danish-designed and hand-built in an extremely limited number,” said marketing director Peter van Rooy.

Production of the car is currently underway. Unfortunately, Zenvo only plans to build five models per year. The company did not name the price for this car, but we expect it to be quite expensive.

Watch Zenvo TSR-S’s fascinating Centripetal Wing active aero at work

The Zenvo TSR-S is the middle sibling in the Danish carmaker’s three-model lineup. The 1,163-horsepower TS1 GT sticks to the road with a demure rear wing, while the racetrack-only, 1,102-hp TS1 sticks to the track with a high fixed wing. The road-legal TSR-S plays both sides, but outdoes its track-only sibling in two ways: It has 1,177 hp and an active “Centripetal Wing” that moves in two planes to increase cornering grip.

The wing’s trailing edge can rise a little to increase downforce, or a lot to act as an air brake. In corners, one side of the wing will lift in order to create what Zenvo calls the “centripetal” force; when the TSR-S turns right, the right side of the wing lifts, and vice versa. Zenvo says that in doing so, downforce remains perpendicular to the wing surface, resulting in more force on the inside wheel and more grip. While overall downforce drops by about 3 percent, angling the wing shifts 30 percent of overall downforce to the inside wheel.

Zenvo took the TSR-S to test at the Assen TT Circuit in The Netherlands, running with a bunch of high-dollar machinery. Admittedly, the rollercoaster centripetal wing is completely distracting, looking something like a class project devised by garagiste engineering students. But all kinds of inventions have made many people feel the same way, at least until they started winning, so we look forward to seeing where this goes.
