Christian von Koenigsegg walks us through the Jesko Attack

An official video from the Koenigsegg channel where Christian von Koenigsegg does a full walkthrough of the bright orange Jesko that was just finished, being a pre-production validation car, this one is very close to the actual production cars that they will start building, this Tang Orange Pearl with silver and carbon-fiber accents finished beauty reminds us of the Koenigsegg CCR color, did you know that back in the early 2000s about 50% of all Koenigsegg cars left the factory in Sweden in this orange shade?

Let’s just take a look at 15 minutes of automotive art … made in Sweden, by the way, this track focussed version no longer goes by the name Jesko, but they now call it the Jesko Attack, while the top speed version is still called the Jesko Absolut.

Up close with the Huayra R

Horacio Pagani and his team are hard at work to put together the first customer car for their limited series Huayra R, the track-only version for the stunning Pagani Huayra, but for now, they only put together a 1 on 1 scale mockup vehicle so they can evaluate the modifications done from the 3D computer designed model, over at least two 1/5 scale models, into real-life proportions … no interior yet, and no engine fitted either, but this satin silver metallic Huayra R with the famous orange stripe just looks so impressive, even standing still inside a studio.

There will be 30 units of this stunning Pagani Huayra R available for clients, but these can only be used on a closed track, heavily inspired by one of Horatio’s favorite classic race cars, the Porsche 917, the design for the Huayra R has been radically modified from the regular street-legal version, in the end only very few parts are the same … rumor has it only the exterior rearview mirrors and some screws on the chassis are the same as those found on the streetcar, that’s impressive for a limited production run of only 30 units.

The new Pagani Huayra R will come with a new V12 engine too, codename ‘R’, this engine will be naturally aspirated instead of the turbocharged V12 found in the streetcar, but this beast will come with 850 hp and 750 Nm of torque, inside a car that comes with a dry weight of only 1,050 kg … imagine the acceleration this Huayra R will be capable of.

Because the Pagani Huayra R does not have to comply with legislation for road use, Horatio could go all-out when designing this car, but he did still restrict himself to FIA regulations for GT cars, might a career in racing be on the horizon for these cars? The Huayra R does come with its own, bespoke carbon-fiber monocoque, instead of adding a roll cage to the existing Huayra monocoque, Pagani just created a new one with an integrated roll-over cage.

The TechArt GT Street R

Just in case the 650 hp from the factory standard Porsche 992 Turbo S won’t be enough for you, you can always turn to TechArt in Germany to ‘tune’ the car a bit further … or a lot further when it comes to the new TechArt GT Street R, not only does power go up to an impressive 800 hp, but TechArt also installs a very aggressively styled aerodynamic package for outside looks, and a completely bespoke interior.

Styling for the TechArt GT Street R was inspired by the 992 GT3 for the front hood, massively widened fenders with integrated air vents, and naturally, a big rear wing, which in this case is a ‘multi-layered design. If that isn’t impressive enough, check out the center-lock wheels … the TechArt ones come with removable aero rings.

Carfection Covers the Ultimate Trilogy of 90s Icons

As far as YouTube videos go, a 15-minute video can seem like such a chore. People these days want information and speed all at once, then onto the next task. But this episode of Carfection is well worth the watch – in 4K resolution if I may add. Henry Catchpole from Carfection, a YouTube channel with almost a million subscribers, has the pleasure of teaming up with DK Engineering to compare a holy trinity of iconic supercars. He starts off the three-part series to review the legendary McLaren F1 while the Porsche 911 GT1, Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR wait in the stable for their turn in the YouTube spotlight.

The F1 featured in the episode is one of the few McLaren F1’s to maintain its original color and material combo. And this is the only one to have a full Alcantara interior. The owners over the years used towels and seat covers to maintain its pristine condition. The originality of an F1 is the deciding factor in the resale value – not just its mileage. McLaren-F1-Chassis-37

Just over half of the 106 F1’s produced hit roads as legal road-going supercars. This example is number 37, and with only 64 road cars, it not just a special icon of the 90s but a rare one. 

McLaren-F1-Chassis-37The McLaren F1 featured a 6.1-liter V12 BMW-built engine that put down 627bhp and 479ft-lbs of torque. It was able to hit 60mph in just 3.2 sec and achieve a top speed of 240mph. Not only did McLaren design and build a legendary road car, but they also dominated on the track by notably beating Ferrari’s F40’s in the BPR Global GT Championship in ‘95 and ‘96 in addition to winning Le Mans in 1995 by taking 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place – not bad for McLaren’s first kick at the Le Mans can. 

Carfection’s series will continue on with the other two legends one by one and highlight their major significance in the supercar world as we know it today.

Top Gear’s Chris Harris Attempts to Tame Raging Bull

In a short clip released on Top Gear’s YouTube channel, presenter Chris Harris is seen attempting to take on Lamborghini’s latest hybrid supercar on the track. 

The clip starts off with joyful screams coming from the Sian’s tires and V-12 engine as Harris launches the 807 horsepower super-hybrid down a straightaway. The scene then cuts to Harris sliding the 3.6 million dollar supercar around the track while burning rubber and expectedly – a ton of fuel.

Lamborghini Sian Review

The Lamborghini Sian is not your average hybrid. Instead of utilizing a Lithium-Ion battery, it uses a Lamborghini-developed supercapacitor. The Sian’s braking generates power to the supercapacitor and allows it to provide an instant power boost when accelerating. It is also one of the fastest Lamborghini’s produced with a top speed of 217 miles per hour.

The Lamborghini Sian was also used as an example recently to develop the new Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini motorcycle. The Italian motorcycle comes sporting livery taken from Sian DNA. Like the Sian, the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini comes with a limited production of just 630 units where Lamborghini had 63 Sians produced.

The teaser footage comes from an episode from Top Gear’s 30th season which is set to premiere on BBC America and AMC+ on April 25th. Harris will be giving a full review of the Sian in the new season and we couldn’t be more excited.

Millions of dollars of smuggled exotica crushed in the Philippines

Here at Supercars.net – in case you haven’t noticed – we love supercars.

That’s why this footage of millions of dollars worth of supercars, classic cars and other precious metal is so painful to watch.

More than 60 luxury and high performance cars and motorbikes were destroyed by Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte as part of an anti-corruption campaign.

The expensive metal had been smuggled into the country illegally in attempts to evade the country’s tax regime that makes buying and importing high value cars prohibitively expensive.

Any car costing more than 2.1 million Philippine Piso (around $39,550) is classified as a luxury vehicle, and hit with a PhP 512,000 tax, plus a further levy of 60% on any amount above PhP 2.1 million.

For something like a base model Porsche 911 Carrera, on sale in the US from $91,100, that would push its cost from the PhP 4.8 million price tag up to PhP 8.25 million – or $155,400 at today’s exchange rate.

If you can’t bear to watch the footage then turn away – in the clip cars sentenced to a crumpled end by bulldozer include a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Porsche 911 Carrera S, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Nissan 350Z and a Ford Mustang from what we can see.

And this isn’t the first time Duterte has put on such a public display of automotive destruction in the name of combatting corruption. As the clip below attests, he has form for this kind of thing.

Beware – clip includes graphic footage of a C3 Corvette meeting its end.
