Kozmophone: Thomas Edison Inspired Turntable

Thomas Edison was more useful than one bright idea; he also invented the phonograph. This old school design has been brought back to the future in the Kozmophone, making for an eye-catching speaker.

The standout feature of this speaker is the horn it grants you. That stylish old horn of a phonograph added to this product oozes elegant class and is complemented by a number of modern features. Starting with the horn, it can be rotated to direct sound in any direction which also allows you to place the speaker in any location without issues.

It can also be detached to be portable and to connect to other Bluetooth-enabled devices. Moving on, from the horn, the speakers turntable has an integrated feature to connect other speakers or for use as a Hi-Fi setup. Yet, one of the coolest features we have saved for last. The product’s main cylinder can charge a smartphone and hosts multiple hologram animations to be changed at your discretion using the sleek Kozmophone app.

Deciding to get one of these is a no brainer. What is a bit of a decision is which color you will get it in as there is a few options, 6 to be exact!

VPI collaborated on this with MDI of Lakewood, to produce an elegant turntable made from aluminum and either natural or black-toned wood.

So break out that old collection of vinyl or get yourself down to the local vintage record store and listen to music the way it should be enjoyed. Say no to the digital age with this clash of the old and the new in audio technology.

McIntosh MT2 Precision Turntable

The McIntosh MT2 Precision Turntable is a high-end piece of audiophile kit that combines sophisticated looks with the latest technology. At $4K, it also costs cheaper than its predecessors.

The turntable features a moving coil cartridge that’s compatible with both phono inputs and moving magnet inputs. Its dural-aluminum tonearm has damping materials, while the internal bearings contain ceramic with damping fluid, ensuring noise-free musical reproduction. A highly compressed wood base, together with a top and middle acrylic plates, and a 1” thick belt-driven solid black outer platter, helps absorb unwanted vibrations that can cause noise during playback.

Able to play both 33-1/3 and 45 rpm records, the MT2 is ready to use out of the box as tracking force, anti-skate force, cartridge overhang and arm height are all tuned from the factory. The cherry on top of the cake is a subtle green glow that emanates from under the platter and the outside edges of the plinth.
