Carapate Teardrop Trailer

We’ve featured many an angular teardrop-style campers, but none of them are as impressive as the Carapate Teardrop Trailer. This French-made camper is a must-have if you’re planning a countryside trip with your lover, best bud, or just yourself.

French startup Carapate Adventure’s mini-caravan is a rolling wooden trapezoid with rounded corners, playful colors, and an enormous amount of style. Who said your camper has to look bulky and its aesthetic has to be an afterthought?

Inside, you’ll find a modular bed layout that maximizes space but also saves some by removing elements when you don’t need them. There’s also an indoor and outdoor kitchen. Plenty of windows, too, in fact nearly as much as a greenhouse. Suffice it to say that natural light isn’t a problem if you like that in your campers.

There are a series of upgrades that add even more function and comfort, but these are optional.

Purists, we know what you’re thinking — this isn’t strictly a teardrop-style camper. You’re right. In fact, Carapate Adventure admits as much, saying the shape doesn’t resemble the conventional teardrop-style trailer. Still, the Carapate Teardrop Trailer borrows heavily the effortless style and sheer utilitarian sensisiblies of the classic tear.

This also has a pretty huge door, which is great. Not only does it give the indoor space some more room to breathe, it also lessens the divide between the inside and the outside. Camping is all about braving the outdoors, anyway, and this is perfectly captured in the Carapate.

SylvanSport VAST Camper Trailer

Look — if you want an authentic, rough-it-out, visceral camping experience in the frayed edges of wilderness, camper trailers won’t help you. But if you like bringing along creature comforts in outdoor shenanigans, consider SylvanSport’s VAST camper trailer.

There’s been a surge of camper trailers of late, and while most new models are decent enough, the SylvanSport VAST is another story. Most notably, it’s the brand’s first-ever camper trailer. Thankfully, it’s no botched job, as SylvanSport is redefining what a camper trailer should be.

The result is an ultra-versatile three-in-one trailer with efficient use of space. You get a customizable lounge area that can be converted into a two-level sleeping area. Not to mention twin queen-sized beds that descend from above via motors. When you hop out of bed, you can tuck them back up so as to save space. That then gives you access to an onbaord bathroom and an indoor or outdoor slide-out kitchen.

Oh, and that kitchen — we’re talking a two-burner stove, a fridge, a freezer, a sink, and plenty of storage. SylvanSport designed the entire thing to hold up your camping gear, too. So, you get things like rails for kayaks, a space inside for bikes, and even hideaway storage for dual propane tanks.

The only downside to the SylvanSport VAST camper trailer is that you can’t buy it yet. But if that trip’s coming up and you haven’t settled on a camper yet, this one’s probably your guy. It’s got every essential creature comfort imaginable. It’s not exactly what you’d call a roughing-it-out experience, sure, but who cares?

Lume Traveler No. 1 Trailer

You don’t have to camp in the woods or risk breaking your neck from climbing the rooftop just to look at the stars. Instead, you can avail of the Lume Traveler No. 1, a modern camper that offers comfort and luxury for all your outdoor adventures.

From designer Hein van de Laar, this trailer offers a panoramic view of the stars from its roof made from Sunbrella fabric. The fabric slides open to reveal nothing but the sky, while a built-in insect screen gives you the freedom to sleep under the stars without the worry of insect-bites.

This lightweight aluminum trailer also packs features that make outdoor living feel like home. The interior comes with a double bed, an optional TV and sound system, twin reading lights, and USB charging ports. A 100W solar panel provides power on-the-go.

Meanwhile, felted wool upholstery, blind rivets, hand-stitched leather, and sustainable teak trim help insulate the room for a cozy and warm sleeping experience. The wool repels dirt so it also keeps the inside clean.

The rear hatch of the Lume Traveler No. 1 opens to a stainless steel kitchen complete with modern luxuries, including a 40-liter fridge, two PITT gas burners, and cupboards for your kitchen utensils. Of course, this beauty of a camper does not come cheap. It costs approximately $53,000.

Romotow by W2 Architecture

Say goodbye to bulky caravans and say hello to the Romotow, the mobile home of the future. With a push of a button, it transforms from a simple trailer to a party site.

At first glance, the Romotow may look like your usual caravan. However, the ingenuity of New Zealand-based architectural and interior design firm W2 gave birth to an innovative concept that puts space and relaxation at the forefront.

The design of the trailer alone is a great departure from the boxy structures of typical trailers.  The interior offers more space, with partitions that distinguish between the sleeping area, kitchenette, and living space.

The main attraction of the Romotow is its functionality. Precise technical engineering transforms the living area into a hosting deck that can accommodate several people. An automated swivel extends a sheltered exterior, expanding the living space with 70 percent more floor area.

Meanwhile, a slide-out panel covers one side of the extended living area and hidden struts slide out from underneath to support the caravan firmly on the ground.

The Romotow is currently under construction in Christchurch, New Zealand. Let’s hope that we don’t have to wait too long for this cool camper to hit the retail market.

Hitch Hotel Expandable Wheel-Less Trailer

When we talk about trailers, no matter the make or model, we immediately picture something with wheels. That’s all about to change as Hitch Hotel breaks the mold by being the first and only expandable trailer that doesn’t need them.

It might sound unbelievable at first, but the company was able to live up to its claim—thanks to the clever use of lightweight materials and innovative design. To keep its heft at a minimum, the trailer is constructed out of T6 aluminum and fiberglass. Built-in adjustable struts swing out to keep the camper stable when its drawn out to full length.

Fully-closed, the Hitch Hotel provides you with 60 cubic feet of space (enough for three full-size bicycles)—to store your additional cargo securely for travel. The magic actually happens when it’s fully-expanded, wherein you’re given a whopping 135 cubic feet sleeping area that’s roughly the size of a queen size bed. Moreover, its compact form factor makes it easy to store in your garage when not in use.

Compatibility requirements dictate that the portable storage/camper is ideally supported by vehicles with a class 3 hitch rating or higher. However, depending on the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of your ride, some class 2-rated models might be able to support it. After all, the entire package just weighs in at a manageable 245 pounds.

Overdrive is a car heist film of multi-million dollar proportions

We’ve had a wealth of average to excellent car-related movies this year. We’ve had the eighth Fast and Furious film, a movie about a heist surrounding a NASCAR event called Logan Lucky, and the musically-flavored getaway driver movie Baby Driver. Now we can add one more to the list. This is yet another heist movie, and this time it’s about stealing the cars.

It’s called Overdrive, and with the car theft angle, it seems to be a mix of Gone in 60 Seconds (probably more like the Nicolas Cage remake than the ’70s original) and the Fast and Furious series. We bring up the latter because the trailer shows off some pretty absurd stunts, like breaking into a semi on the highway, and driving over a crumbling bridge. There’s also the fact that the writers of 2 Fast 2 Furious are behind this film. But hey, at least they’re not crashing cars through skyscrapers or escaping rivers of hacked cars.

The car selection for this movie is particularly high-class and high-dollar. In the opening of the trailer, and in the exclusive movie stills above, you can see the main characters trying to make off with a Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic, a car that has seen sales of over $30 million in the past. At some point, those same main characters have to secure an even more valuable Ferrari 250 GTO. One of those sold for over $38 million. Mixed in with these ultra-rare machines are classics such as a Porsche 356 and Ferrari F40, as well as more modern machines like a Civic Type R and a Porsche 911. If a bunch of sweet cars and fast-paced driving sound good to you, consider checking out Overdrive when it hits theaters on October 6.
