The Inbetweeners
The Inbetweeners, just like a slew of comedies that put a focus on those awkward years of teenagers, is as excruciatingly funny as it can get. This British anti-Entourage sitcom revolves around the story of four friends who struggle to make it through high school.
Nevertheless, you will get plenty of LMAO moments out the quartet’s boneheaded antics and horrendous luck. Uncool and not slick, they all go through perils and pitfalls of high school life, such as the bullying woes, underage drinking, and so much of those thwarted sexual encounters in their awful young lives.
The boys can easily revert to their archetypes sometimes. The snobby nerd protagonist, Will, simply cannot do or say the right thing, the cynical Simon, and the goofy Neil. Then, there is the crude sex-obsessed Jay, whose virginity is the bane of his existence.
All these four suburban teenagers find themselves an outcast who do not belong to any group other than their own band of misfits.
The Inbetweeners evolves as a now-classic, cringe comedy. It poignantly reflects teen’s horrific years in high school, or how it is typically conceived to be, at the very least.
The show’s humor is outrageously profane but wonderfully done. The show has shorter seasons, thus, it is an easy binge-watch, especially if you stomach the cringe. On top of it, you will love the show’s kickass soundtrack.
