Converse And Carhartt WIP One Star

Did you know Converse is only one of the very few footwear brands to create shoes for the military during the Second World War?

The kicks you see above, called the Converse X Carhartt WIP One Star, best exemplifies Converse’s brief but very memorable stint making military gear, and it also serves as a symbol of the brand’s commitment to the men who suffered, perished, and survived the last world war.

One look and you’ll immediately notice the shoes’ military underpinnings. Converse and Carhartt took style cues from military gear in that tragic decade. So, no surprise that the One Star is potent with a kind of slick brutalism you can only find from the maelstrom that is the war. Although you wouldn’t see any soldier in uniform ever wear this pair, it really seems that the kicks are fit for one, and thankfully Converse and Carhartt didn’t make the design too on the nose; despite its Second World War basis, it looks quite temporary and a bit discreet, too.

The upper is made of premium quality Cordura fabric complete with a hangtag. The fabric used overall is very robust, and the result is a pair of highly utilitarian-style footwear that manages to blend finesse, style, and heavy-duty durability without much fuss. That’s courtesy of Converse and Carhartt, to be sure, because those companies have mastered the art of simple, understated aesthetics. In short, these shoes will look great on you. And they’ll last very long. They’re available now directly from Converse or Carhartt.

SeaVees Legend Sneakers

Whoever said suede is just for gloves was probably smoking something. Just as SeaVees proves, the material is just as excellent for kicks. They’re new Legend sneakers, the proof we’re talking about, is gloriously decked in smooth, subtle cowhide, then finished to perfection.

The suede sits atop a rubber sole that makes the shoes both comfortable and aesthetically alluring, and it adds durability and style to what’s an already classy-looking pair. Topping it all off are nylon laces that make them an everyday streetwear staple.

For SeaVees, there’s nothing terribly shocking about the SeaVees Legend. They’re still highly representative of the brand from heel to toe: casual, laid-back, chic. But not all companies need to change so drastically so fast. So it’s a good thing that SeaVees is sticking to what it does best, if it didn’t we wouldn’t have their gorgeous kicks from season to season.

As such, the SeaVees Legend Wintertide Ecru sneakers, as they’re properly called, feature the silhouette and wearability SeaVees fans are already familiar with, but with the addition of the aforementioned durable upper that keeps things robust yet not sacrifice the style. You’re also getting gum rubber soles for a bit of panache, and with that, the shoes will make you look good in any type of party, be it as casual as a backyard BBQ, or as fancy and formal as your white-collar office.

The best part? They’re fairly inexpensive for shoes this stylish. For just $92, you can have a pair of cool-looking suedes that’ll blend well with a lot of clothing options.

Nike Air Max 720

After much anticipation, Nike has finally pulled the wraps off its latest sure-to-be-sold-out-quickly pair of kicks, the Air Max 720. Sneakerheads will salivate over its bigger-than-ever airbag, which wraps entirely around the length of the sole. You’ll also love that new heel unit, which Nike says is the latest in Air history.

The Air Max 720 is the tallest model to date, measuring in at 38mm. What that means is that this model offers the most spring of any silhouette in the Air Max family due to the biggest heel volume displacement.

Let’s talk about that color. Utterly beautiful. Nike has had more experimental Air Max models before, surely. However, none of them was as majestic-looking as this one right here. It’s easy to see why these kicks look so cosmic: Apparently, Nike drew inspiration from the Northern Lights for the model you see above, and another model based on the Milky Way shares this galactic motif. Nike didn’t forget to come back down to Earth, however: There’s a model inspired by lava flows, and others by sunrises and sunsets. We simply can’t wait to see those.

It’s worth noting that these kicks are comprised of 75% recycled manufacturing waste. This was done as part of Nike’s aim of delivering a more sustainable future for athletes in mind, and the belief that there should be no trade-off between lightening our environmental footprint and improving performance.

There’s no word yet on pricing and release date, but expect details to surface in the coming months.

Givenchy JAW Sneakers

You might have heard of Givenchy from songs on the Billboard Top 40 (Formation, anyone?). And from those lyrics maybe you’ve acquired an inkling that they’re a luxury clothing band. Well, you’re mostly correct, but did you know they also make sneakers, not just clothes?

In fact, the brand just launched its latest line of kicks, called the Givenchy JAW collection. They arrived at Givenchy boutiques this past October. All units are made from luxe leathers, suedes, and mesh detailings. In other words, exactly the things you would expect from Givenchy.

The high-fashion sneakers will have various colorways. Givenchy will initially release all-white and all-black versions, but down the line it’ll add multi-color variants as well. You’re in luck if you fancy blue, red, and other riskier colors. If you’re feeling a bit generous, why not buy everything to spice up your streetwear game?

Also, did we mention they’re all inspired by the iconic film Jaws? That certainly explains the unusual yet highly alluring teeth-shaped outsoles. And the silhouette that’s similar in scale to Balenciaga’s overtly chunky soles and Louis Vuitton’s hyperbolic arches. However, what truly sets it apart is the nylon and leather-tipped construction, which features a sock-like interior underneath the high-top ankle.

You can hit Givenchy boutiques or the company’s online store to purchase the latest Givenchy JAW Low-Top collection. If you want to wear the “it” sneakers of the season, then you best head to Givenchy to get your hands on the brand’s ultra-glamorous kicks.

RS-0 Sneakers By Puma And Roland

Here’s another collaboration that’s one for the books. Footwear manufacturer Puma and Japanese instrument company Roland just gave us the RS-0 sneakers. They’re another pair of classic sneakers for the contemporary streetwear market.

We’re not complaining though. Just look at those 808-inspired elements slithering around the kicks, the multicolored diagonals representative of Roland’s innovative rhythm machines from the ‘70s that forever changed how people create music.

The RS-0 sneakers celebrate Roland’s musical achievements. However, they’re not thematically too on the nose. You’re not going to get musical notes, clefs, or any similarly absurd iconography. Instead, the kicks take inspiration from the aforementioned 808, which is universally adored across the musical spectrum. That’s especially true among hip-hop and trap beatmakers. The sneakers are a nod to that era. It implements iconic visuals of the 808 to deliver incredible aesthetics. Not to mention the kicks are well-made, fairly affordable, and super comfortable.

The RS-0 features leather black uppers, micro perf vents, reflective midsole details, and signature TR-808 colors like orange, red, and yellow on the formstrip. Puma and Roland branding is located in the tongue label, footbed, and anodized metal hangtag, giving you a chance to show off one of the best collaborations in the sneaker community this year.

Don’t miss out on these awesome-looking pair of kicks, now available from Puma for just $130 and available only in black. We would have liked Puma to offer these in a bunch of other colorways. But hey, what can you do? Check out more photos below.
