1978 Jeep Wagoneer By New Legend And Iron & Resin

It’s good when phenomenal shops become good friends. Iron & Resin has been developing a fine camaraderie with the guts at New Legend 4×4 over the past few years. The former prizes the latter’s approach to work-play life balance. And it’s equally enamoured with its thril for adventure.

If you’re any bit knowledgeable about off-roaders, you already know they build some of the most rugged cars we’ve seen here at Men’s Gear. This reskinned 1978 Jeep Wagoneer is no exception. Yes, the two have teamed up again to give us this gorgeous ride.

After its equally phenomenal 1972 International Scout II, both shops got to work on another stunning vehicle. The folks decided to leave its original aesthetic and design be, which is why the 1978 Jeep Wagoneer doesn’t look that far from its original underpinnings.

But it’s the inside that counts, obviously. Underneath you’ll find a modern mechanical restoration. That means a recent LS 5.3 engine with 416 ponies and a four-speed automatic transmission. That’s on top of fully rebuilt front and rear axles, new brakes, and a 3-inch suspension lift with new springs, shocks, and bushings. Let’s not forget the modern fuel system, cruise control, and stock hubcaps with new BFG all-terrain tires, though.

Inside, it’s just as gorgeous. You get a new carpet with heat and sound insulation. Plus a custom leather and waxed canvas interior from Iron & Resin itself. There’s also a premium audio system built in. Hey, just because this comes from 1978 doesn’t mean it has to sound old, right?

International Scout LSII-Three By New Legend

Certainly no stranger here at Men’s Gear, New Legend is a superstar in the custom community for its wide range of eye-catching International Scout builds. No surprise there. The shop churns out fantastic Scout jobs, infusing modern touches into the iconic 4×4.

New Legend’s newest project is this decked out LSII-Three. As with previous builds, New Legend has made this vehicle more special, but in a way that the core elements aren’t lost.

The enhancements here are pretty comprehensive, from drivetrain and suspension improvements to a custom-made console. Saying New Legend didn’t skip any detail, no matter how tiny it was, is an understatement.

We’re talking Dynatrac axles, ARB air lockers, and Fox racing adjustable shocks — ensuring the Omaha Orange LSII-Three can trail even the most unforgiving of terrains. You’ll also find Hutchinson beadlocks, an Atlas II twin stick transfer case, and a completely new Outrider chassis outfitted with a four-link coil suspension. New Legend turned what’s already an off-road monster into an even tougher off-road beast.

Underneath, you’re looking at an LT-1 6.2-liter engine. This tops up at 460 horsepower and 480 pound-foot of torque. The interiors are notable as well. You’re getting an Italian leather saddle interior package, Corbeau seats, and a Focal/Mosconi sound system. The car’s six-point roll cage and custom made console house the audio components. New Legend certainly tinkered with everything there was to tinker with, even the littlest of details.

If you’re on the market for a buffed-up Omaha Orange LSII-Three, look no further than New Legend. Unfortunately, someone has already bought the $180,000 ride. But we’ll tell you as soon as New Legend outs a new custom job stat.

International Scout LSII-One By New Legend

The International Scout is perhaps one of the most sought-after off-roaders in the off-road community. That’s thanks mainly to the number of custom Scout jobs that have come out over the last several years. Plus the appeal of the car itself, of course.

Now, we’re getting a look at yet another custom Scout project, this time from the folks at New Legend. The Scout LSII-One fuses modern specs into a tried-and-tested classic design. It comes in an incredibly vivid Ceylon Green paint job and a Creme Brûlée topper that reeks of sophistication. It’s the kind of color combination you just know wouldn’t work in theory. Yet here we are, marveling at this utterly beautiful bad boy.

You also have an all-black undercarriage thanks to the polyurethane protective all-weather coating. The interior is just as impressive, too, packing some fine leather upholstery and Corbeau seats to keep things crisp and classy at the same time. New Legend also made sure to add extensive heat and sound deadening throughout the interior, plus fully integrated factory gauges and transmission shifter, and a six-point roll cage with front cage legs designed for better space and function.

Under the hood, we’re talking a 6.2L LS3 engine with 430 horsepower, with a bunch of upgrades thrown in for good measure, like LED lighting, a new suspension, and a 3.5-inch lift kit for a decent amount of ground clearance. The suspension, according to New Legend, is “smooth and predictable and it makes high performance driving possible on or off road.” Take this classic off-roader with you anywhere you go.
