2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S Edition 1

Mercedes-Benz has recently unveiled the AMG GT 63 S Edition 1–a special edition version of the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupé, which will be available only from September 2018 until September 2019.

The limited edition vehicle will ride on 21-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels available in three paint options, while an aerodynamics package will offer a larger front splitter and integrated flics, an enhanced diffuser, plus a mechanically-adjustable fixed rear spoiler that adds up to 66 lb of downforce at 186 mph.

Power will come from the same engine found in the GT 63 S 4MATIC+, a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 with 639-hp, topping 196 mph and accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds. The interior will feature AMG Performance seats, Nappa leather upholstery, AMG Performance steering wheel with Edition 1 badging, AMG carbon fiber trim, and even an AIR Balance package with an exclusive AMG 63 scent. OMG!

1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing

Introduced in 1954 as a two-seat coupé with distinctive gull-wing doors, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was a race car for the street. Boasting the world’s fastest top speed at that time, as well as technological firsts (including the first-ever production fuel injection), and low production numbers, this vehicle is widely considered one of the most collectible Mercedes-Benz models.

Having never been restored or modified, the 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing you see here is even rarer. And it can be yours for 1 million-1.3 million at RM Sotheby’s auction in Fort Lauderdale on April 7, 2018. The highly-collectible sports car features the original Fire Engine Red finish (redone over the years), the original Cream upholstery (quickly surface-dyed black decades ago, but remains intact, with no tears or scratches), and even its original Michelin spare tire and two of the three original belly pans.

The Merc has 36,375 miles on the odometer, all recorded prior to 1968. It has been exhibited for four decades at various Indiana museums, which helps make this Gullwing one of the few that have survived in this pristine condition.

Official: 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe

AMG GT 53 Front

AMG GT 53 FrontMore exciting reveals came about in Geneva this week with Mercedes revealing their 4-door coupe to the world. Initially thought to be rumors, the sexy AMG GT 2-door coupe now will come with extra doors, which is good. Customers usually stuck with a Maserati Quattroporte, a Porsche Panamera, or the Aston Martin Rapide can now rejoice! There are more options for the oligarch in trouble of deciding.

It will still feature the usual Mercedes Benz accoutrements, with nice leather seats, fully-integrated instrument cluster and center console, and a V6 or a V8 engine choice. The 53 has a supercharged inline-6 while the 63 has the delectable bi-turbo V8 engine with outputs of 429 hp and 577hp, respectively. Step your game up to the GT 63S and you’ll get 639hp. AMG GT 53 Interior

We here at Supercars.net are big fans of the AMG GT and while the SLS AMG was a pioneer in creating a Mercedes halo car, it was a bit outlandish with the gullwing doors. As we mentioned earlier, there were rumours that the original SLS AMG was going to become a four-door. There were even hilarious patent designs that perhaps, to troll the automotive community. Just look at it,

What could have been, right? Thankfully, they went with their senses and the AMG GT 63 and 63S will be a heavily awaited release for the MY2019.

Is Mercedes Planning An SLS AMG E-Cell Roadster?

Sx-Z | SLS AMG E-Cell Roadster

Rumor has it that Mercedes-Benz is planning a roadster version for the SLS AMG E-Cell electric supercar that debuted at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

Said an undisclosed Mercedes-Benz representative, “We will see how great the demand becomes. We currently have no idea how many people are actually interested.” Sounds like Mercedes-Benz will see how the fully-electric gullwing supercar sells first and then make a decision as to whether or not there will be a demand for a roadster version.

To recap, the SLS E-Cell uses four electric motors to generate a combined 526 horsepower and 649 pound feet of torque, achieving a 0-60 time of four seconds.
