Hennessey Performance pushes a 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat beyond 1,000 HP

Hennessey Performance appears to be on the move to bolster its lineup of mean machines before the year ends. While other shops focus mainly on supercars, it opts to cater to more than that. As such, we regularly see the Texas-based tuner work on muscle cars, pickup trucks, and even SUVs. One of its latest exploits deals with a 2021 Dodge Durango, which it boosts way beyond what the American marque can muster from its assembly lines.

If you’re familiar with what Hennessey Performance can do, you’ll find that this SUV is now officially a monster. In fact, it can take on most supercars with ease as its power plant now pushes 1,012 horsepower with 969 lb-ft of torque. This is way over what the stock powertrain can handle which is why tweaks are in order. Once complete, this SRT Hellcat Durango can easily go from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds.

This should turn heads on the tracks or on the street. It all begins with the 6.2-liter V8 Hemi engine. Hennessey Performance gives the 2.65L supercharge system a thorough upgrade along with the pulleys. Additionally, they’re adding stainless-steel tube headers to squeeze out even more horsepower from the 2021 Dodge Durango.

In order to maximize its capabilities, it likewise welcomes changes such as high-flow fuel injectors, catalytic converters, air induction, crankcase ventilation, and more. Handling everything are highly trained staff, which also facilitates dyno testing and road testing (up to 200 miles). Hennessey Performance is only producing 50 of these 2021 Dodge Durango. Finally, those who love their rides in black are in for a treat as well.

The Buben & Zorweg for Bugatti collection channels the Chiron Super Sport 300+

For some reason, Bugatti has been the subject of tributes and collaborations as of late. Given the level of the finesse its vehicles exude, it’s no wonder why other high-end brands in the market want to associate with the French marque. Amid the barrage of offers from various groups, Buben & Zorweg appears to have one of the more interesting tie-ins. What they have in store for the luxury carmaker’s discerning clientele are a series of premium safes and a watch winder.

They’re calling this collection the Buben & Zorweg for Bugatti and rightfully so. Each is a masterpiece that should meet the needs of those who can afford a machine from the manufacturer in the first place. The level of detail and craftsmanship that goes into the construction is remarkable. Headlining it are two versions of the safe: The Illusion Chiron 300+ and Grande Illusion Chiron 300+

Talking about exclusivity, the two will only see 30 examples available for purchase respectively. The range-topping variant goes the extra mile with a Buben & Zorweg Flying Minute Tourbillon clock on top. The layer of security it ships with is certainly impressive. Owners of both models can gain access via biometrics (fingerprint sensor) or a transponder chip.

Given that watchmaking and automotive construction often go hand-in-hand, Buben & Zorweg has something for collectors. Depending on the configuration of the Spirit Chiron, owners can either store four or eight automatic watches. Using Buben & Zorweg’s Time Mover technology, you can be sure they’re ready to use when you need it.

Jacob & Co. presents the $1M Bugatti Twin Turbo Furious La Montre Noire

Similar to an engineer’s work on the sophisticated mechanisms of a vehicle’s powertrain, watchmakers deal with intricate complications to produce some of the most accurate timepieces. Perhaps a great example of a connection between the two is the Jacob & Co. x Bugatti Twin Turbo Furious La Montre Noire. The two brands are at the pinnacle of their respective craft. Thus, a collaboration in the past produced one extraordinary model. Now, the two are at it again with something even more extravagant.

What made the Bugatti Chiron 16 Cylinder Tourbillion stand out was its automotive vibe. It achieved this through a feature that pays tribute to the power plant of its namesake. This time, Jacob & Co. is working with the celebrated French marque to honor the La Voiture Noire. For those wondering, it was a one-off in 2019 that was inspired by a certain all-black vehicle from Jean Bugatti’s collection that was mysteriously lost.

As such, the Bugatti Twin Turbo Furious La Montre Noire attempts to channel the vibe of the LA Voiture Noire. It does so by going overboard with its opulence in stunning showcases of stealthy style. What we have here is a 46 mm case in 18-carat black gold with 344 baguette black sapphires. This imparts a sinister silhouette as only a few elements in silver, white, and red offer contrast to its dark image.

A Jacob & Co. calibre JCFM05 manual movement grants it a 48-hour power reserve. The Bugatti Twin Turbo Furious La Montre Noire also flaunts two triple-axis tourbillon regulators for superior timekeeping accuracy. Rounding it off is a black Cordura strap with an 18k black gold buckle with 18 baguette black sapphires. At $1 million, it would match the La Voiture Noire in exclusivity.

8 Tips For Buying The Best House Near A Golf Course

Owning a house near a golf course is a dream come true for many golfers. The properties near the golf course have great value, but there are a few things to consider before investing in one.

Properties with specific types are tough to buy due to many uncertain factors. The communities, surrounding areas, homeowners’ association all are important things to consider. It is vital to do research on all these things before buying a house.

Here are 8 things that you need to consider before investing in a house near a golf course

1. Visit The Place

You must visit the property before buying it. Yet a lot of us still skip this step. The fieldwork will give you ideas about many things that your real estate agent might skip out on. You may even notice other important stuff that will have a great effect on your experience.

If you visit the place in person, you will get to know about the community, the neighborhood, amenities, and transportation options in the area. You can even talk to your potential neighbors and have an idea about the lifestyle they have.

For instance, your traditional golf course area will be a bit different from the golf course near the beach, If you are planning to buy a house in an area like Myrtle Beach, then you should visit the place in person or check out the Myrtle Beach golf course condos for sale.

2. Decide What Type Of Golf Course You Prefer

Different courses vary in terms of weather, amenities, maintenance, quality of grass, etc. The designs of the houses are mostly the same, but some look exotic like this house in Argentina.

If you like four-season weather, then you should look into Mid-Atlantic areas, such as Virginia and North Carolina. Vegas, Florida, Tucson, Phoenix, and South Carolina, on the other hand, are places that people who prefer sunny weather will like a lot.

Based on the location, there are plenty of amazing golf courses. One example would be the amazing floating green golf course. The medical facilities, security, school district, shopping, and entertainment area are also factors that you might want to consider.

3. Consider The Financial Possibilities

Golf course estates have great value generally. The prices around popular golf courses and country clubs, such as the Dallas country club, can cost about a few million dollars. The prices around other clubs are not so high but can still be called expensive.

Some houses sell at 250-350 dollars per square foot. However, you can find other houses which sell at 80-100 dollars per square foot. The sizes of the houses are significantly large and most have an area of 5000 square feet.

Prices of houses also rise or drop drastically even for the distance of a mile. If you prefer to have a good view of the golf course, then you will have to pay a higher price for your house as well.

4. Look For Club Benefits

Many golf clubs allow membership for the residents of the surrounding area. Some golf clubs offer membership only if you own a property in the neighborhood.

You can also enjoy club benefits that are available to property owners. For example, the Vaquero club only offers membership if you own a house near the course.

Some clubs offer memberships at a discounted price. The clubs in Arizona and California have green fees and discounts which promote the local economy.

5. Look Into The Club Community

The golf clubs come with many fees and membership conditions. You should ask your realtor to clarify all the fees that are listed and the purpose of each one.

The strength of the club community will help reduce many types of fees. If there are fewer community members, then it is likely that you will be stuck with paying a high amount.

The number of members of a club compared to holes will affect your tee time. You should also see if there are private courses or semi-private courses around. The clubs that have a higher rate of green fees can offer you a greater tee time and vice versa. Overall, the finer details of the club and its exclusivity will affect the resale price of your house.

6. Get A Designer Golf Course

The marquee designers of the golf course have big names in the industry. Try to get into one envisioned by a renowned designer. These courses come with a premium price, but it is all worth it.

The golf courses that have big designers’ names on them will prove to have good quality development, maintenance, and great amenities. Some courses have lakes adjacent to them. This can also drive the price up.

7. Inquire Into The Privacy & Security Concerns

Most houses around will not have a high fence. Thus, golfers will have a clear view of your backyard. Stray golf balls are another factor that you should consider. Although it is uncommon to have fatal injuries from being hit by a golf ball, the possibility still exists.

You can at least be sure to find a stray ball in your backyard or through a broken window occasionally. These problems can be avoided if your house is in between the holes or behind a tee box. The corner of a dogleg or beside a hole will be more susceptible to wayward balls. Occasionally, you will encounter people who might drift close by your backyard, which is out of your control.

8. Check Out The Legal Liabilities

There are multiple legal liabilities and responsibilities related to owning a golf course, but there are no laws that can compensate for property damage from a stray golf ball.

There may be an option to receive compensation if the golfers volunteer or if you have a great homeowners’ association. Likewise, you can have insurance to cover for these damages.

However, finding legal help will be impossible since the court will look into the intent of the golfer. Plus, identifying and locating the one responsible might be difficult, while proving malicious intent is even harder.

Takeaway

Owning a luxurious house near the golf course is certainly amazing. But it comes with a lot of responsibilities as well. Be sure to consider the 8 tips we mentioned above to get the best possible house near a golf course.

Ferrari crafts the Omologata as an ultimate bespoke supercar for one special client

There are times when some of the world’s top carmakers just want to show off for the heck of it. This usually results in exclusive production runs of limited-edition models, which are designed to stun the automotive industry. Then there’s that sudden spark of inspiration that drives certain brands to craft a one-off that often do not even go up for sale. Well, Ferrari did just that with a machine dubbed the Omologata.

So far, the folks from the prancing horse emblem are saying it a commission from a very special client in Europe. Hence, one can probably just guess who just spent a fortune on this remarkable ride. Much like the buyer, Ferrari is keeping the price under wraps. Meanwhile, the rest that makes the Omologata stand out is fair game. Who knows, perhaps some of you might get to see it in the wild somewhere.

This bespoke build apparently starts off with its 812 Superfast platform, which is already an alluring tribute to the Italian marque’s racing heritage. Thankfully, they sort of held back from going all retro and instead went with a more modern appeal.Gearheads are quick to point out that Omologata only retains the headlights and windshield of the donor vehicle. True to its motorsports essence, Ferrari adds graphics of the number 7 on the hood and on both doors.

The exterior of its hand-made aluminum body is predominantly in the iconic shade of red. Inside is a cabin that’s predominantly In black with seats in electric blue for a welcome contrast. Additionally, there are hammertone accents on the center console and door handles. As for its performance, all we know about the Omologata is that its packs a punchy V12 under the bonnet.

Limited-edition McLaren Elva receives heritage-laced Gulf livery

McLaren tapped into its vast racing heritage to create a Gulf-themed version of the limited-edition Elva. Its partnership with the Pennsylvania-based oil company began in the 1960s, and it continues to this day.

Like every Gulf-colored car released over the past few decades, the Elva receives light blue paint with orange accents. It’s not the first model to feature this color combination, and it’s undoubtedly not the last, but it wears it particularly well. It’s not fitted with a windshield — it doesn’t need one, according to McLaren — so the separation between the exterior and the interior is blurred, and even the dashboard and the door panels are light blue.

Photos of the interior haven’t been released, but we spot a pair of white seats separated by a Gulf-colored panel. Oddly, the car is not equipped with a rear-view mirror. McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has already applied heritage-inspired paint colors to two examples of the Elva, and both wore a dashboard-mounted mirror.

McLaren announced plans to make 399 units of the Elva, but it dropped that number to 249 after analyzing feedback from its customers. Pricing starts at $1.7 million, and the Gulf-themed model displayed at the SpeedWeek event held on England’s Goodwood track illustrates one way to customize the roadster. MSO’s earlier creations paid homage to Bruce McLaren’s 1964 M1A race car and his 1967 M6A racer, respectively.

Ansar Ali, MSO’s managing director, explained the Gulf-colored Elva celebrates the renewed partnership between McLaren and Gulf. Customers are now able to order the historic blue and orange combination directly from the factory regardless of whether they’re buying an Elva, a 765LT, or another one of the British company’s models.

SpeedWeek starts today and runs through October 18. Spectators are exceptionally banned from the event due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but you can catch all of the action online. We’re expecting to see a handful of new car launches, timed supercar laps, a huge auction, and, of course, dozens of race cars going flat-out.

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera leads this month’s list of discounts

The average price of a new car in America last year was $35,932. This month, the biggest discount off the retail price of a new car in America is awfully close to that figure at $34,001. For those keeping track (as we do every month with a post like this one), that’s by far the largest discount we’ve seen so far this year, and it means buyers of the 2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera are paying an average transaction price of $273,819.

The British automaker calls the DBS “the ultimate production Aston Martin.” With a 715-horsepower V12 engine pulsating underhood, sufficient to push this grand touring coupe from 0-60 in a skosh over 3 seconds and on to a top speed of 211 miles per hour, who are we to argue?

If that’s too rich for your blood — and let’s be honest, it’s still a whole heck of a lotta money — the next biggest discount might be at least a little more attractive. According to data provided by TrueCar, buyers of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT are seeing discounts of $23,103 off the car’s average sticker price of $159,995. That’s a heck of a lot of car for $136,892, though admittedly still expensive. But at 14.4% off retail, it’s a better deal than the $132,122 average transaction price of the 2020 BMW M8. The BMW’s $16,497 discount equals 11.1% off the M8‘s $148,619 sticker.

Lamborghini gives buyers even more options with the Urus Graphite Capsule

For those who want an SUV with a distinct essence of a supercar, Lamborghini has you covered. The Urus has been the go-to option for fans of the Italian marque who want more room and off-road capabilities. Where else can you get a vehicle of its type that manages to embody the essence of a supercar in a platform meant for more than two passengers? The latest one is called the Urus Graphite Capsule and offers four distinct colourways.

What’s cool about it is the level of customization available for buyers with over 16 combinations possible. These start off with Grigio Keres, Grigio Nimbus, Bianco Monocerus, and Nero Noctis. According to the product page: “The Urus Graphite Capsule presents Lamborghini drivers all the possibilities to go anywhere with inimitable character and style.”

“Sporting a powerful look and a dynamic stance, these exclusive configurations combine sophisticated satin-effect matte colors with contrasting bright-colored details that express new and alluring interpretations of your personality,” it continues. Aside from the exterior, Lamborghini also wants buyers to choose how the cabin matches the design. Following the two-tone theme, the inside also flaunts accents in contrasting shades.

There’s Alcantara, carbon fiber, black anodized aluminum, the signature hexagonal Q-citura stitching, and the embroidered logo. Meanwhile, the Lamborghini Urus Graphite Capsule does not only introduce a new aesthetic. Owners still get to enjoy what the SUV brings to the table. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 641 horsepower with 623 lb-ft of torque. This allows it to accelerate from a standstill to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds. Moreover, it can also reach a top speed of about 190 mph.

Revealed: Aston Martin shows first V12 Speedster prototype

The V12 Speedster — Aston Martin’sliving show car” — has moved from the realm of dreams (and digital renderings) to the physical world. Here it is in the metal. In the composite? A bit of both, we’d reckon, but we can say this for certain: it’s definitely not glass.

Aston Martin’s 88-unit, $950,000, topless supercar is officially entering the physical development stage “in earnest,” the company’s spokesperson said, and here are the photos to prove it. Aston Martin had originally planned to start delivering V12 Speedsters in the first quarter of 2021, but whether that’s possible in the world of COVID-19 remains to be seen.

The company says this prototype is intended for “dynamic development,” meaning it’s going to be used to fine-tune road and track performance. Based on the details Aston Martin has released so far, we’re inclined to believe that it will be a treat in both departments.

Fortunately, we have Aston Martin’s previous renderings.

Aston says the V12 Speedster is powered by a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 making 700 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels by way of a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. The British luxury builder claims this combo is good for a run to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.

The platform itself is made by combining elements of the DBS Superleggera and Vantage. It has 21-inch forged, center-locking wheels, huge carbon ceramic brakes and adaptive dampers.

As you can see from the gallery, Aston Martin did not include any photos of the prototype’s interior, and we suspect that’s because it doesn’t actually have one yet — at least not anything worth showing. That’s just as well. This is a single-purpose toy, not a touring coupe, and anything more than a well-anchored set of seats and intuitive driver controls is just a bonus anyway.

Dodge has sold 3 new Vipers so far this year

Like zombies, these dead cars still sell among the living

Car models come and go, but as revealed by monthly sales data, once a car is discontinued, it doesn’t just disappear instantly. And in the case of some models, vanishing into obscurity can be a slow, tedious process.

That’s the case with the five cars we have here. All of them have been discontinued, but car companies keep racking up “new” sales with them.

There are actually a lot more discontinued cars that are still registering new sales than what we included here. We kept this list to the oldest and most unlikely vehicles still being sold as new, including a couple of supercars.  We’ve ordered the list in order of fewest vehicles sold. 2012 Lexus LFA: 1 sale

The first car on this list (which is mostly full of lackluster automobiles) is a supercar: the Lexus LFA. It’s an exhilarating car to drive, and is packed full of interesting technology. Lexus sold a total of 1 LFA coupe so far this year to what we have to guess is a very satisfied customer. By our count, there ought to be 4 more unsold LFAs sitting somewhere on dealer lots in America.

It’s also worth noting that Lexus only sold the LFA for two model years, 2011 and 2012, which means it is by far the oldest new vehicle on this list. It’s also one of the most soul-stirring supercars we’ve ever driven, complete with a V10 engine that revs all the way past 9,000 rpm. Let’s just say we’re jealous of the lone LFA buyer.

2017 Dodge Viper: 3 sales

Dodge discontinued the rip-roaring Viper after the 2017 model year, but there are still a few left in dealerships around the country. So far this year, Dodge has managed to sell 3 SRT Vipers.

It’s interesting to think that these buyers had the option of driving home in a brand-new mid-engine Corvette, but chose to go in an entirely different direction. Something tells us they won’t be disappointed with its 640-horsepower naturally aspirated V10 engine, even if it’s mounted way out in front of the driver instead of the preferable sportscar location behind the driver.

2017 Chrysler 200: 3 sales

The Chrysler 200 is actually a pretty nice sedan, with good looks and decent driving dynamics let down by a lack of roominess, particularly in the back seat. Of course, the number of Americans in the market for sedans is rapidly winding down, and other automakers are following Chrysler’s footsteps in canceling their slow-selling four-doors.

Even if Chrysler never really found its footing in the ultra-competitive midsize sedan segment, apparently dealerships have a few leftover 2017 200s floating around. So far, 3 buyers have decided to sign the dotted line to take one of these aging sedans home.

2019 Buick LaCrosse

Much has been written about the American shift from sedans to crossovers, and the full-size Buick LaCrosse is one casualty of the times.

Interestingly, Buick sold 1,389 LaCrosse sedans in 2019, its last year of production. That’s certainly not a big number, but it’s not really the worst performance in the dwindling segment. In any case, there are apparently a few still left on lots around the country, because the automaker has recorded 6 total sales so far in 2020.

2019 Chevrolet Volt: 6 sales

This one stings. We have always been fans of the range-extended plug-in Chevy Volt and the potential it offers to consumers looking to drastically cut their fossil fuel use. In fact, we liked it enough to write a eulogy of sorts.

Sadly, Chevrolet didn’t sell enough Volts to justify keeping it in production. The automaker has sold exactly 6 new Volts so far in 2020.

150 years of excellence embodied by the Hennessey X.O x Frank Gehry Masterpiece

Much like when a luxury-tier restaurant serves food, the presentation matters a lot for the customer. Not only does it show off the skills of the chef and the service crew, but it does add flair to the meal. Approaching its latest creation in the same manner, the renowned French cognac distiller is delivering one hell of a showpiece. This here is the Hennessey X.O x Frank Gehry Masterpiece. The name describes exactly what it intends to be – a masterpiece.

Tapping the talents of famed architect Frank Gehry, Hennessey is asking for a jaw-dropping tribute for its 150th anniversary. He gladly delivers in the form of something spectacular, which blends multiple sources of inspiration into one decadent decanter. It arrives in the form of the iconic Hennessey X.O bottle with a showstopping exterior.

He notes: “It was an honor to be asked to celebrate this milestone for Hennessy X.O. While I was excited, it was also daunting because a bottle of cognac is already a work of art—one you can smell, taste, and feel—it doesn’t need embellishment as it’s already there.” This tells us the amount of respect he has for the Hennessey Maison. Thus, the craftsmanship he imparts on the Frank Gehry Masterpiece is equally stunning.

One must view it closely as the familiar silhouette of the Hennessey X.O cognac bottle is not immediately visible. Instead, what immediately draws you in is the bronze sleeve and its 24k gold coat. The uneven and shiny surfaces supposedly symbolize the “radiant movement of water.” Meanwhile, the final layer is what they call “fractured glass glorifier.” Only 150 examples of the Frank Gehry Masterpiece will be available to commemorate 150 years of this world-class spirit.

Caviar uses the iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max to honor the Apple 1 computer

Apple is probably ready to announce the iPhone 12 series soon. Traditionally, this is a big deal for consumers who finally get to see what the next generation offers. However, leaks are not making it easy for the manufacturer. Now, Caviar steps forward to give us a glimpse of what the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Sadly, only the rear section and the frame are visible. The shop is paying tribute to the first Apple computer with its Apple 1 and Apple 1 Light.

Although the full specifications of the new handset are not yet available, there are a few that Caviar gives away. Storage size options are apparently 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB only. Next is the triple-camera configuration which appears to have the LiDAR scanner on board. While the two variants both honor Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs’ first hand-built computer, each has their own distinct presentation.

The Apple 1 is the range-topping model that shows off a wooden rear panel with the original Apple lettering of its namesake. Just below it is a glossy titanium accent in the shape of a monitor with a bunch of code. Further down is the iconic programming text “Hello World” and the word “Computer” in the design of the desktop’s vintage keyboard buttons.

Its most remarkable feature which is the small piece of a motherboard sourced from an actual Apple 1 computer. As for the Apple 1 Light, It just sports a wooden back panel and the Apple lettering right under a small fragment of an Apple 1 motherboard. Caviar is offering these unique iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max units in limited numbers only.

One-of-a-kind Ferrari Omologata took over two years to complete

Ferrari has introduced the Omologata, a client-commissioned one-off based on the 812 Superfast. It’s a heritage-laced tribute to the firm’s historic race cars, but its designers chose not to venture too far into retro territory.

Finished in Rosso Magma, the Omologata is the 10th front-engined, V12-powered one-of-a-kind car that Ferrari has built since 2009. Visually, it shares only its windshield and its headlights with the model it’s based on, though its proportions are inevitably similar. Its pure, muscular design is characterized by subtle references to the Prancing Horse’s past models, like vents below the hood that echo the hugely successful 250 GTO race car. It was also inspired by science fiction and modern architecture, according to the Italian company.

Ferrari created a new shade of red for the 7 emblems on both doors and on the hood, and for the stripe that runs beneath the windshield as it connects the rocker panels. Why 7? We don’t know, but we highly doubt it was chosen randomly. Its owner may sooner or later shed light on its relevance. Here’s another interesting number: two. That’s the number of years it took to create the Omologata, from the moment a designer completed the first sketch to its unveiling in September 2020. It wears a hand-made aluminum body, after all.

Electric blue seats with four-point harnesses add a touch of color to a mostly black interior. Ferrari notes the metal parts on the dashboard and on the steering wheel are finished with a crackled paint effect, while the door handles and the center console wear a coat of hammered paint. Both connect the Omologata to decades-old race cars.

The sculpted hood hides a V12, but technical specifications haven’t been published. For context, the 812 Superfast easily lives up to its name with a naturally-aspirated, 6.5-liter V12 tuned to develop 789 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque. It spins the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Ferrari hasn’t revealed the identity of the customer who commissioned the Omologata; all we know is that it was made for “a discerning European client.” Pricing remains under wraps, too, but we suppose it came with a seven-digit price tag. Keep in mind it’s a coachbuilt supercar based on a model whose base price hovers around $340,000, and it’s made with numerous components developed and manufactured specifically for it.

Ferrari stressed its aim wasn’t to create a museum piece. The Omologata meets the same quality and drivability standards as a regular-production model, hence its name, which means “homologated” in Italian. Time will tell if its owner will take advantage of the street-legal status to use the car on a regular basis, or if it will be kept hidden until it’s displayed in front of the champagne-soaked crowd at the 2073 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The McLaren 765LT is even quicker than we thought

We have good news and bad news for those who happily find themselves in the market for a brand-new supercar. We’ll start with the good: The McLaren 765LT is even quicker than initially announced. According to the British automaker, the 765LT will run from 0-124 mph (a nice, round 200 kilometers per hour) in seven seconds flat.

Sure, that’s a scant 0.2 seconds quicker than previously claimed, but in the world of supercars, a couple of tenths is a major achievement. McLaren further claims a 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds and a 9.9-second quarter-mile time, which is impressive no matter which way you slice it. So is its 205-mph top speed, courtesy of a 755-horsepower twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine.

Now for the bad news: If you haven’t already obtained a guaranteed order from McLaren, you’re out of luck. The automaker says it will produce 765 units for 2020, and they are fully allocated.

Along with those two nuggets, McLaren says it’s also showing off some MSO-customized examples of the 765LT to buyers. Two themes have so far been unveiled, the first of which is called Strata (above left). It’s “inspired by a city skyline and realized in a three-color design requiring 390 hours of hand painting and finishing,” the automaker says. The Azores orange, Memphis Red and Cherry black scheme carries on into the interior, as well.

The second theme is called GEOHEX and features Tarmac Black and Tokyo Cyan paint inspired by a 3D honeycomb. A large array of carbon fiber elements inside and out reportedly complete the look. Sadly, we don’t have pictures of this finish, but we’re sure those will eventually leak out.

Buyers who really love carbon fiber, though, may prefer the MSO Bespoke Carbon Fiber Body treatment (above right). One car has already been produced with a glossy finish, but McLaren says it can also tint the visual carbon with a number of colored finishes.

Lazzarini Design Studio presents the Avanguardia swan yacht concept

Just when we thought we’ve seen every conceivable luxury ship concept but then floats along the Avanguardia. Yes, your eyes are just fine and it is indeed a yacht in the shape of a what many consider a graceful waterfowl. The folks from Lazzarini Design Studio are responsible for its striking appearance. Evidently drawing inspiration from a swan, this 450-foot vessel is packing some unique features we won’t be seeing from other shipbuilders anytime soon.

Lazzarini Design Studio perfectly captures the essence and magnificence of the creature from all angles. The name Avanguardia means vanguard in English and alludes to the position of its control tower. Meanwhile, sources claim the team credits a 1970s Japanese manga for the idea but did not disclose any details. Being fans of anime and mange ourselves, Science Ninja Team Gatchaman is probably our best guess.

What looks like the head is actually something extraordinary. You see, when the superyacht is in motion, it can fold down to improve its aerodynamics. Furthermore, then neck can even lower the aforementioned section onto the water below. This turns it into an auxiliary 52-foot tender, while the top end of the tower becomes the main control tower.

There are a total of five decks with enough room for up to 60 passengers. Lazzarini Design Studio also includes two jet capsules which can become modular propulsion modules for the Avanguardia. Meanwhile, it primarily draws upon two fully electric engines on top of a central MTU Rolls-Royce power plant. This allows the watercraft to cruise along serenely or push along at 18 knots. Those who want the real thing should be ready to part with at least $500,000,000, which is a substantial fortune

Brabham’s BT62R is a road-ready supercar imbued with racing DNA

Don’t you just hate it when carmakers tease us with new platforms that promise speed and exhilaration beyond our wildest dreams, yet end up as track-only offerings? While it might be acceptable for those who prefer to drive their latest automotive investments on curated courses than on the street, others would rather have the latter. Thankfully Brabham feels the same way as it introduces the BT62R to would-be buyers. This is probably in response to the overwhelming demand from its clientele, which is great news for everyone else.

Gearheads would undoubtedly marvel at the dynamic form of the BT62R. They will also admire what lies beneath its carbon fiber shell. There sits the same 5.4-liter Brabham V8 engine as its Ultimate Track and Competition version. Hence, what we have here is an output of 700 horsepower with 492 lb-ft of torque. Of course, to meet regulations, there are some tweaks to make it street legal.

Brabham pairs the powerful power plant with a 6-speed sequential transmission with gear ratios tuned for road use. In addition to its elegant sporty profile is a luxurious cabin with an option for leather or Alcantara upholstery with contrast stitching. To keep its racing heritage intact, the seating is carbon fiber to keep weight to a minimum.

The BT62R is also the recipient of suspension system reworks to maintain its superior dynamics off the track. Other notable changes include the top-mounted air intake, a new front splitter, a redesigned single-plane rear wing, and a new rear diffuser. It also boasts a digital lift kit that automatically adjusts the ride height with a button press. Finally, Brabham wraps all four wheels with Goodyear’s Eagle F1 SuperSport rubber.

The Scorpion gaming cockpit from Cluvens comes with heating and massage functions

In 2018 Acer unveiled its $20,000 Predator Thronos gaming chair, which looked like a mix between a machine and an alien organic lifeform. The year after, the $14,000 Thronos Air was unveiled to the delight of gamers. As most of us opt to work from home due to the pandemic, the arrival of this next item couldn’t have been any better. This here is the Cluvens Scorpion, which evidently draws inspiration from the former two, but at a more budget-friendly price range.

Well, if you consider $3,299 as mere pocket change, then this gaming cockpit should be on your list. As you can probably guess from the name the overall presentation mimics that of the predatory arachnid. Actually, when it’s in motion, those who fear creepy crawlies might find it a form of nightmare fuel. On the other hand, we see it as a sleek dynamic platform upon where our gaming rig will soon reside.

Instead of a sting, the Cluvens Scorpion features a mounting point for up to three displays. Meanwhile, the keyboard and mouse sit on top of a surface that swivels out. When you’re ready for action the claws support the section when it swivels in. The manufacturer uses a high-carbon steel frame powder-coated in back with a stylish matte finish.

We love the motorized system that can quickly adjust the position of the seat and display mount. Moreover, the Cluvens Scorpion gaming cockpit even comes with a heating and massage function. The latter is already perhaps the best reason to justify your purchase. The only thing missing here is an option to motorize the legs so you can practically ride on a 264 lb gaming machine.

The Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition shows Omega’s support for ocean conservation

Hence, those shopping for a stylish and dependable timepiece might want to consider the Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition. Turning it over to look at the case back shows a submarine medallion engraving to remind users of its exclusivity. Q by Aston Martin delivers a stunning one-off bespoke beauty called the Victor

These days, almost every vehicle that rolls out of the factory comes with an automatic transmission. Also, with the auto industry is gradually transitioning to adopt all-electric powertrains. You can say that we might soon finally bid goodbye to some classic features. Thankfully, there are some carmakers that still care about some these traditional aspects. Take for example a recent project by Ford to mate a manual transmission to an emission-free mustang. Aston Martin – with its passion for automotive excellence – brings forth a bespoke tribute called the Victor.

The British marque is synonymous with high-performance supercars with a level of luxury that outclasses the rest. Reports claim the Victor wants to channel the powerful rides from Aston Martin’s old-school catalog form the 70s and 80s. Therefore, with Aston Martin’s renowned Q division at the helm, this one-of-a-kind coupé will certainly exceed even the loftiest of expectations.

The folks crafting the sleek machine are drawing elements from the Vulcan and One-77. Aston Martin is fitting a 7.3-liter V12 engine with some extra tuning specifically for the Victor. Even though it’s practically the same power plant on the latter, it has been exclusively tuned for the project. Hence, it’s capable of producing 847 horsepower and 605 lb-ft of torque.

The best part of its all is the fact that it uses a six-speed manual transmission. This is a combination that only a few manufacturers still consider nowadays. Unfortunately, this stunning one-off is already spoken for by a client who wishes to stay anonymous. With the specifications it brings to the table, the Aston Martin Victor likely commands a staggering price point. So far, many speculate the cost to be in somewhat prohibitive even for the more affluent among us.
