Land Rover Defender MDX-Expeditionsmobil

Just when you thought the Land Rover Defender has been customized to death, here comes another one, this time built for your outdoor adventures. Called the MDX-Expeditionsmobil, it’s by German Land Rover dealer Matzker, who took a long-wheelbase Defender and threw in a popup camper. Among other things, of course.

Inside, you’ll find a two-burner stove, sleeping and sitting areas, and even a restroom. Suffice to say that this boasts plenty of creature comforts to aid you in your outdoor sojourns. It’s a smart custom project. You know why? Well, to be sure, the Land Rover Defender is a solid off-roading beast. No one can question that. Unfortunately, they can be a bit cramped and uncomfortable after a while. The MDX-Expeditionsmobil literally fixes that.

This is still at its core a Land Rover Defender, clearly. As such, pumping power underneath is a formidable 2.2-liter td4 engine. That and a front winch on a heavy-duty bumper, and for flair, the folks added a roof rack with LED lighting. A few more touches, like the snorkel intake and overhead spotlights mounted to a roll cage, make this a camper’s heavy duty sidekick.

Sad to say there’s just going to be one Defender MDX-Expeditionsmobil in the world, as this bad boy is a one-off project. Even still, it’s a heck of a custom ride, and certainly one of the most bang-up Land Rover Defender jobs we’ve ever seen here. And you never know — Matzker might make one or two more if this things take off.

2013 Land Rover D90 By COOLNVINTAGE

We’ve feature aplenty from Cool & Vintage, stylized as COOLNVINTAGE, and for good reason. First of all, their custom jobs are pretty sick, and if you ever end up in Lisbon, it’d be a sin not to least stop by their workshop.

Cool & Vintage’s latest handiwork puts a 2013 Land Rover D90 on the chopping block, where it loses its signature rear shell. Don’t worry, though. When Cool & Vintage taketh away, it also giveth. The D90 in question sports Marshall wireless speakers and an updated A/C unit, just two creature comforts that make this ride a modern-day pleasure. And since it’s still a Land Rover D90 at its core, you’ll find the well-designed principles still intact.

We’re talking Bespoke Cognac Connolly leather trim alongside a Keswick Green colorway that pairs “rugged” with “utilitarian” perfectly. Off-road ready, too, so you can be sure it’ll come out alive even if you put it through the wringer. Needless to say that this is one of the most notable custom rides we’ve ever seen. It’s got no fancy bells and whistles like this Mad Max-inspired 1973 Plymouth ‘Kuda’ Barracuda By Aaron Beck, sure. But you know what? Simplicity is still key, and that’s what Cool & Vintage nails, always.

The Land Rover D90 in question is currently listed for sale on Cool & Vintage website. We have no doubt Land Rover fans will quickly scoop this one up and chuck it in their garage. There’s no exact price, though. If you want a quote, you’re going to have to inquire ask Cool & Vintage directly.

Gore-Tex Sneakers By Land Rover And Clarks

It’s not everyday a car company and a footwear brand decide to get hitched,. Which makes Clarks and Land Rover’s new collaboration all the more special. When an automaker comes out with a shoe line, they’re usually geared toward proper footwear while driving. Not this time, however.

Clarks and Land Rover’s new collection of sneakers aren’t for driving, or at least not just. They’re for pretty much any adventure you can dream up. The sneakers are available in two variants, either hi-top sneaker-boots, or running shoes. For this collection, both companies balanced both ruggedness and style. The result is footwear that can withstand even the harshest of activities, but still keep your style in check.

All the models are sporting waterproof Gore-Tex fabric, which is a brand you might have heard of before if you’re a sneakerhead. This breathable fabric membrane can repel liquid water while allowing water vapor to pass through. If that’s not impressive enough, it’s also designed to be a lightweight, waterproof material for all-weather use.

Besides Gore-Tex, the shoes also feature ergonomic high-traction soles, not to mention shock-absorbing EVA midsoles. Basically, what this all means is that it’ll take some intense brute before you wear these kicks out, so you don’t have to worry about wearing them while attending to heavy-duty shenanigans.

Pricing starts at $200, with the most expensive model going as high as $230. Yeah, that’s a tad bit more expensive than your regular Nikes, but these will bring you comfort and robustness even as you venture into the outdoors, be it traversing cliffs or dunes or muddy waters.

1983 Land Rover Series 3

Land Rover fans should be no stranger to Cool & Vintage, a Portugal-based company that restores a number of models from the globally iconic car brand. Its latest handiwork is the 1983 Land Rover Series 3 SUV.

The restoration process involved disassembling then rebuilding the four-liter V8 engine and transmission. What’s more, the chassis, gearbox, and the remaining mechanical parts. Cool & Vintage restored everything to factory-new condition, to be clear. Suffice it to say that Cool & Vintage left nothing untouched, and although the car retains its classic design from decades past, everything is practically new.

The folks at Cool & Vintage revamped the iconic frame with a fresh new Tangerine Orange paint job. That gives it a level of luster that goes in perfect tandem with the black leather interior and accents. This is perhaps one of the rarest Land Rovers you will ever have the chance of owning, and would be a lovely new addition to any collector’s vintage restorations roster.

Time for a short history lesson for you Land Rover fans: The company first put the Series III into production in 1979 when it noticed that its performance in Africa, Australia, and the Middle East — markets where it was supposed to shine — was dipping. People just preferred the Toyota Land Cruiser over Land Rovers. That’s thanks mainly to the former’s nearly-unbreakable inline six motor. The answer came via the Series III’s 3.5-liter V8 engine and four-speed transmission, taken from the Range Rover. Which brings us now to the car you see above, which you can import to the US.

Island Defender Re-Imagined the Truck From ‘Jurassic World’ as a Land Rover
