Manhart Land Rover Defender Gets 512hp and Subtle Body Mods

This is Manhart Performance’s take on the new Land Rover Defender, they call it the DP 500 which has been extensively modified both technically and visually.

The basis for the model represented now is a Defender P400 AWD in a long five door body variant 110. The vehicle is powered by a 3.0 liter inline V6 petrol engine with an output of 400hp and 550 Nm of torque as standard.

Manhart performance has remapped the engine control software of the Defender and increased the output power to an 512 hp and 710 Nm of torque. This puts the model at the top together with the 5.0L supercharged V8 variant.

The new Defender DP 500 has been fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system which will be available with either carbon or ceramic-coated tailpipes. Furthermore, a Manhart brake upgrade and an optimization of the factory air suspension with regards to the chassis will be available on request. The air suspension lowers the ride height by 30mm either by adjusting the software or with the help of coupling rods.

The vehicle has been fitted with a set of Forged Line wheels in 10×24 inch and 295/30 ZR24 tires. Concave One wheels in size 10.5×22 inch with black finish and gold trim mounted on 295/40 tires are available for customers who prefer a smaller wheel set.

The exterior also features wing flares which make the vehicle appear broader, engine cover matching the color of the body and silver stripes applied on the black bodywork. The interior features high quality Alcantara leather and electrically operated Ergomed Recaro seats for the driver and front passenger. The Recaro seats include heating and cooling as well as integrated airbags.

Land Rover Defender Gets New Look from Startech

Startech has redesigned the new Land Rover Defender with a sporty bodywork developed for on-road driving, 23 inch tailor-made wheels and an exclusive refined interior. All the bodywork elements have been manufactured in OEM quality from ABS plastics.

The company upgraded the front bumper of the Defender with a three-piece front spoiler whose center section takes visual cues from a skid plate with two vertical ribs. The two side sections have been shaped to ensure the front-axle lift force is reduced when the vehicle is at high speeds. The rear spoiler extending from the roof to the rear is their aerodynamic counterpart.

A Startech tailor-made cover for the rear door is available to customers who do not like the externally mounted spare at the back. The accessory conceals the mounting points when the spare together with the brackets have been removed. Additionally, the Startech trim panel features the contour of the Union Jack, the British national flag. The accessory is also available in the colors of the flag as an option.

The new Defender has been fitted with king-sized Monostar E wheels of size 10.5Jx22 at the front and rear axle combined with the largest TUV-certified YOKOHAMA street tires of size 305/35 R 23. The hub covers of the wheels have been designed like a centre lock to emphasize the sporty appearance of the alloys and the 10 pairs of spokes.

The Chassis of the new Defender has been upgraded to further boost the handling qualities of the tires. Startech engineers devised a special control module for the standard air suspension, the control module enables the driver to lower the ride height of the vehicle up to 35mm (lower than standard configurations) when on-road mode is activated from the cockpit.

The company also offers exclusive interior options ranging from red, blue or black anodized sets of bolts to replace the standard bolts and high-quality paint finish in various colors to replace the standard silver aluminium panels on the door trims, dashboard and the centre console. A list of exclusive accessories ranges from floor mats to aluminium pedals and footrest.

Startech also offers three tailor-made interior packages consisting of the finest leather and Alcantara in many colors, patterns and design to further enhance the interior as well as high-quality painting of all ex-factory silver or matt black bodywork components.

Land Rover Defender 110 Live at Chicago Auto Show 2020

Chicago – After it’s debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Land Rover brought it’s new Defender 110 to Chicago. While the first live unveiling of the new Jaguar F-Type was the big news on the Jaguar-Land Rover stand, the big Defender also attracted quite a bit of attention.

Standing guard over the display, looking particularly stately in silver, the Defender 110 bore a striking but more modern resemblance to it’s predecessor. It was equipped with several Land Rover accessories such as an exterior side-mounted gear carrier, an expedition roof rack, and a deployable roof ladder mounted to the side of the truck.

The full-leather interior provided a pleasant interior and seemed like it’d be comfortable for both day-to-day usage as well as longer trips.

The Defender 110 promises to be as engaging as the older models. We’re hoping to get our hands on one soon for a review.

Land Rover Defender Series I By Land Serwis

Land Rover ended production of its Land Rover Defender series on January 2016, and the umbrage has not stopped since. Consider Land Serwis one of the many umbrage-takers, but one who’s actually doing something about it.

Land Serwis’ first official showcase is a fully rebuilt and restored 2019 Defender Heritage Limited Edition crew cab pickup. The company says it’s one of only four to have original tooling and plans for parts and spares.

Still, it wants to make a variant better than the original. Which is why it uses laser-cut frame members that are from one to six millimeters thicker than the steel Land Rover originally used. And instead of lacquering the frames as Land Rover did, Land Serwis uses hot galvanization. That should make the frame “virtually eternal,” according to Land Serwis head Piotr Kowal.

The clearest advantage to having a car’s original plans is being able to customize it the way a person wants. If they want a different engine, Land Serwis can make modifications before laser-cutting. The same goes for “changes into chassis construction, reinforcements, handles, etc.,” says Kowal. This is possible with the 90, 110, and 130 wheelbases. THose who bring him their identification and a set of Defender license plates can even ask Land Serwis to recreate their truck from scratch.

As for the interior, you get brown eco-leather seating, custom carpeting and headliner, and mild bedliner-wrapped metal parts. Land Serwis also threw in Dynamat Xtreme and acoustic matting, which should make for quieter rides. The car also features powered windows. Heating comes from a Webasto Air Top 200 ST. Custom Land Rover Defender Overland By Heritage Driven

Some people claim the Land Rover Defender is the greatest SUV of all time, and to be honest, it’s hard to argue against that.

The vehicle is so excellent that there are still models running around past their expected lifespan. That’s thanks not to Land Rover but to the restoration and customization shops. These clever folks breathe new life into harried Land Rovers, and it’s a win-win for everybody.

We’re going to focus on the work of one of those firms, Heritage Driven. This shop builds super attractive custom Land Rover Defender, provided you can afford it.

Heritage Driver has a Land Rover Defender package called the “Heritage Overland.” It puts enhancements and modifications to your base Land Rover Defender that prepares it for all your off-the-grid adventures. We’re talking a dual electrical system, dual fuel tanks, a snorkel intake, and a roof rack. There’s also a belly armor, winch, suspension upgrades, plus a buffed-up engine compared to the standard model.

Engine options include a Corvette LS3 at 430 horsepower and Cummins R2.8 at 385 foot-pounds of torque. There’s a bunch more you can choose from, of course. It really depends on what you’ll be using the Land Rover Defender for.

It doesn’t stop there, by the way. Heritage Driven also offers a wide array of other customizable options. You’ll likely put together the perfect ride based on your needs and, more importantly, budget.

If you don’t like overlanding that much, the shop can hook you up with Classic and America editions. They’re a bit more driver-friendly.
