Electrification pushes onward as manufacturers strive to bring something new to the table. Just recently, a thrilling new ride called the Lightyear One is introducing an EV that touts next-generation solar panels on its roof and hood. Basically, it might be the world’s first electric vehicle that can charge using sunlight. One German brand is not planning to just sit on the sidelines, which gives us the BMW Vision M Next.

One look at the futuristic aesthetics gives us a preview of what BMW is cooking up in their offices. For some of you, the Vision M Next might look a bit familiar. That’s because this new concept car seems to be drawing some design ideas from the 2014 i8. However, it still manages to stand out as something completely different from the older model.

The iconic kidney grille and the front bumpers sport Thrilling Orange accents. Meanwhile, the posterior portion of the vehicle flaunts the same color that extends past to the rear flanks. The tone adds an aggressive contrast to the otherwise matte Cast Silver exterior. The two front wheels measure 21 inches, while the rear pair come in 22 inches and both have a classy two-tone colorway.

This aerodynamic supercar is powered by a hybrid powertrain. You’re looking at a total output of 600 horsepower form the turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and electric motors. Moreover, it is capable of completing a 0-62 mph run within three seconds with a top speed of 186 mph. Owners can quickly switch between all-wheel and rear-wheel drive modes. Likewise, they can toggle between all-electric and hybrid propulsion as well. The BMW Vision M Next in one exciting ride that will hopefully make it out of concept limbo.

Ferrari SF90 Stradale

Once again, the prancing horse emblem steals the headlines with the reveal of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. According the the Italian carmaker this new model is its most powerful machine yet. Likewise the new ride is the apparently the company’s first plug-in hybrid. Another thing that’s great about this announcement is the confirmation that it will be a production series release. Hence, buyers don’t need to scramble about to get a piece of a limited edition pie before the allocation runs out.

So let’s get a closer look to find out more about the special sauce. First off, the SF90 Stradale is sporting a 4.0-liter turbocharged mid-mounted V8 engine with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It’s capable of producing 769 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Accompanying its traditional power source are three electric motors. The setup puts two up front for each wheel and one on the rear axle. Hence, we’re looking at an all-wheel configuration for this sleek supercar.

Therefore, the combination of the engine and electric motors makes the Ferrari SF90 Stradale a menacing high-performance entry for 2019. Equally notable is the option for owners to switch an all-electric drive mode. However, a full-charge of its lithium-ion batteries can only manage a range of 16 miles. Moreover, the electric motors alone can manage a top speed of 84 mph. In contrast, with everything working in tandem, it will quickly zoom from zero to 60 miles per hour within 2.5 seconds with 986 mph behind its back. Ferrari is still keeping price and availability under wraps, yet we speculate a 2019 release window for those planning to get one.
