The Ferrari SF90 Stradale by NOVITEC

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale was actually a special model to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari, and while the main power comes from a twin-turbo V8 engine, the SF90 also comes with three additional electric motors for a total power output of 968 hp (735 kW) with a torque figure of 800 Nm … surely impressive numbers straight from the factory in Maranello, Italy.

But we wouldn’t be writing about NOVITEC if they didn’t manage to upgrade the already potent Ferrari SF90 Stradale, the NOVITEC exhaust system with metal catalysts boosts the overall power to 1,033 hp (760 kW) with 858 Nm of torque, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes only 2.5 seconds after a visit at NOVITEC with a top speed in excess of 350 km/h.

To achieve this increase in power, the NOVITEC exhaust system is created with 100-cell metal catalysts and twin stainless tailpipes that come with a diameter of 112 millimeters, complete with beautiful carbon exhaust tips, this system optimizes exhaust flow and because of the fully thermally insulated pipes the temperature in the engine bay is reduced … if you prefer even more heat control you can always opt for the NOVITEC 999 gold-plating.

The NOVITEC exhaust system is available with, or without electronic sound management, you know, the active control flaps in the exhaust pipes to set the sound to ‘LOUD’ or ‘INSANELY LOUD’, if you want to get the lightest possible exhaust system for your Ferrari SF90 you should get the NOVITEC system in INCONEL, a lightweight material used on Formula One exhaust systems.

While the sound is extremely important, especially on a hybrid car, looks shouldn’t be forgotten other, and to that extend NOVITEC usually teams up with VOSSEN for their forged alloy wheels, and this black Ferrari isn’t any different, a set of high-tech forged wheels made in the USA are fitted, in this case, finished in ‘Bronzino’, but NOVITEC offers 72 different colors to their clients.

These NOVITEC NF10 wheels look like a ten-spoke design, but if you look closely it’s, in fact, a ‘double’ five-spoke design, and thanks to some amazing machining tech, VOSSEN managed to create a set of wheels that perfectly fill out the wheel arches on this Ferrari SF90 Stradale, 9.5×20 inch wheels at the front with 255/35 ZR 20 tires and bigger and wider wheels in 12×21 inch for the rear, this time with massive 325/35 R 21 tires fitted, the staggered dimensions emphasize the wedge shape of this Ferrari.

With custom wheels come the need for lowering a car in my humble opinion, and it seems NOVITEC feels the same way, they offer a set of lowering springs to bring the SF90 30mm lower to the street at the front and 25mm lower at the rear, just enough to make a visual impact, and by lowering the center of gravity, this also improves on handling.

NOVITEC also offers customization for the interior, offering the client the option to color match the leather or Alcantara upholstery to the color they selected on the wheels, but as usual, the demo car doesn’t show any custom interior treatment … I guess now it’s time to wait for NOVITEC to release an aero kit for the SF90, or perhaps even an N-LARGO limited edition.

Chris Harris Shares his Experience with Ferrari’s Fastest Road Car Ever

A few days ago Top Gear presenter, Chris Harris, took out the new Ferrari SF90 to a race track. His findings were quite surprising considering Ferrari has called the SF90 its “flagship” supercar with a price tag of just over $500,000.

The SF90 comes packing a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8, 3 electric motors, and a four-wheel-drive system. Its total power output puts it at a staggering 986 horsepower, a top speed of 211mph, and a zero to 60 time of just 2.5-seconds. Impressive for being Ferrari’s first car to have an electric-only mode, even if it does only have a 15-mile range on electric only.

Harris details in a video released on Top Gear’s YouTube channel, that the SF90 is Ferrari’s fastest road car ever. At the same time, the electric-only mode is simply a “party trick” with such a horrible range, according to Harris. The SF90 is loaded with Ferrari’s latest technology, including electric driving assist modes. When Harris gave the SF90 the gears around the track with the assistance of driving modes, he felt he could confidently push the supercar to its limits. He felt the electric modes were extremely “clever” capable of making you feel like a “Driving God”.

But when all driving-aids were disabled, he felt much differently. Harris felt Ferrari missed the mark as much of their efforts were focused on making the car perfect via technology and driving-aids. This took away from Ferrari’s roots of being an ultimate driver’s car. He isn’t sure that Ferrari “putting technology before the driver” is the best course of action for the Ferraris of tomorrow.

A Ferrari SF90 Stradale Build Slot For Sale With a Price of About $1.5 Million

Do You Want Ferrari’s Latest?

With the Ferrari SF90 Stradale only being revealed less than a week ago, it’s surprising to see a build slot for the car already up for sale. That’s exactly what’s happened, though. The build slot is available for purchase at Mobile with a price tag of $1.46 million. The buyer of that build slot will be able to configure the car however they want and can expect delivery of the model in the first quarter of 2020, according to the listing.

As Carscoops points out, there have been lawsuits against people who have tried to flip supercars and hypercars to make money. The Ford GT springs to mind first. Because of this, the publication suggests reaching out to Ferrari before proceeding. We would echo this sentiment. Of course, if you’re spending that much money on a car, you’re bound to take every precaution, and you should.

For those living under a rock, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is the most advanced Prancing Horse ever with a new fancy hybrid powertrain that makes a combined 989 hp. It’s sleek and modern while still looking like a Ferrari. It’s worth every penny of the $1.46 million asking price for the build slot.

If you’re wary of buying an SF90 Stradale under these circumstances, just wait. Ferrari has hinted that the hybrid technology used here would make its way to other Ferrari vehicles, which is a good thing, indeed.

The SF90 Stradale’s Tech Will Be Used In Other Ferrari Cars

Expect More Hybrid Ferraris

The new range-topping Ferrari is here. It’s the SF90 Stradale. The car is an electrified beastly machine. It pairs Ferrari’s most powerful turbocharged V8 with three electric motors for a total power output of 989 hp. The car filters power through a new dual-clutch transmission to all four wheels, a Ferrari first. We did a deeper dive into the powertrain yesterday to give you more of the details.

While the powertrain of the car is extremely interesting, what’s even more interesting is that Ferrari Chief Technology Officer Michael Leiters said the technology would be used on other cars, too. In an interview with Auto Express, the Ferrari executive said, “There will be other [hybrid] models, but with specific powertrain characteristics.”

According to Auto Express, these models will be less-powerful and less-expensive models. While it’s somewhat surprising that Ferrari would offer similar systems on other cars, it makes sense. The research and development was likely a huge cost for the company, and this is a way of getting the most on out if its hard work.

However, this also could lower the exclusivity of the SF90 Stradale. It will still be the top-level Prancing Horse model, but it won’t be the only one with the latest and greatest technology. Auto Express said the company has confirmed it’s working on a V6 engine for lower down in the lineup, we would assume that is the engine Ferrari would integrate into the hybrid setup. We’d love to see a rebirth of the Ferrari Dino as a hybrid model, but at this time, there’s no indication that will happen.

The Powertrain of the SF90 Stradale Is Ferrari’s Most Advanced Ever

It’s More Than Your Typical Hybrid System

Yesterday we reported on the new Ferrari SF90 Stradale. It is a breathtaking machine to look at, and the power numbers are absolutely fantastic. With that said, there was so much to dig into with the new Ferrari, that we didn’t get to give you every detail about the company’s fancy new powertrain, and oh, is it special.

As we said yesterday, the new SF90 Stradale offers a 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 engine for motivation. That engine is connected to three electric motors and has a combined power output of 989 hp. But that’s just glossing over what is truly an innovative powertrain.

The internal combustion engine alone produces 769 hp. The engine is new, though it’s roughly the same size and configuration as the mill found in the 488 GTB. Ferrari chose to increase the displacement from 3,902 cc to 3,990. That’s a small bump, but worth noting. The engine also gets a new fuel delivery system and some other new components to make it the most powerful and most advanced engine Ferrari has ever produced.

Let There Be Electric Power

Now on to the electrics. This is a plug-in hybrid car. That means there are electric motors and a battery. The motors are uniquely positioned. Two at the front and one between the engine and gearbox. The two at the front allow for some advanced torque vectoring—similar, in a sense, to what Acura did with the NSX—and provide an additional 84 hp. The biggest of the three motors is the one in the middle of the car, and it puts out an additional 148 hp.

As far as battery goes, Ferrari fitted a 7.9 kWh battery pack to the car. This gives the motors the juice they need to do their thing and it also allows for up to 15 miles of electric-only range—not exactly Tesla numbers, but then this car is no Tesla.

8 Speeds and All Four Wheels

Ferrari SF90 StradaleFerrari SF90 Stradale

Prepare yourself for the first all-wheel-drive Ferrari. The SF90 Stradale is the first Prancing Horse to filter power to all four wheels. Power is managed by a new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. It shifts 30 percent faster and is smaller in overall physical size, reducing weight.

The all-wheel-drive system can be set up to work in numerous ways. How the V8 engine and electric motors interact all depends on which of the four drive modes you select. eDrive is the electric-only mode, Hybrid mode is what the car starts in and is a little bit of everything (think normal drive mode in regular cars), Performance keeps the power high and the batteries topped up for spirited driving, and Qualify mode is full power and all-out crazy performance.

Speaking of performance, the SF90 Stradale is a true beast of a machine. Zero to 60 mph comes in 2.5 seconds, and the car can rage to 124 mph in 6.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of more than 211 mph. This Prancing Horse can really run.

Ferrari SF90 Stradale

Once again, the prancing horse emblem steals the headlines with the reveal of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. According the the Italian carmaker this new model is its most powerful machine yet. Likewise the new ride is the apparently the company’s first plug-in hybrid. Another thing that’s great about this announcement is the confirmation that it will be a production series release. Hence, buyers don’t need to scramble about to get a piece of a limited edition pie before the allocation runs out.

So let’s get a closer look to find out more about the special sauce. First off, the SF90 Stradale is sporting a 4.0-liter turbocharged mid-mounted V8 engine with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It’s capable of producing 769 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Accompanying its traditional power source are three electric motors. The setup puts two up front for each wheel and one on the rear axle. Hence, we’re looking at an all-wheel configuration for this sleek supercar.

Therefore, the combination of the engine and electric motors makes the Ferrari SF90 Stradale a menacing high-performance entry for 2019. Equally notable is the option for owners to switch an all-electric drive mode. However, a full-charge of its lithium-ion batteries can only manage a range of 16 miles. Moreover, the electric motors alone can manage a top speed of 84 mph. In contrast, with everything working in tandem, it will quickly zoom from zero to 60 miles per hour within 2.5 seconds with 986 mph behind its back. Ferrari is still keeping price and availability under wraps, yet we speculate a 2019 release window for those planning to get one.

This is the New Ferrari SF90 Stradale

Ferrari’s New Hybrid Supercar

Ferrari has been teasing its new SF90 Stradale hybrid supercar for a little while now, and earlier today it released the car’s information and images. It’s a stunning new hybrid supercar that offers 989 hp from a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It features a plug-in hybrid setup that utilizes a turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 paired to three electric motors.

Two of those electric motors are mounted on the front axle and one is mounted between the engine and the gearbox. This setup with the V8 and electric motors makes the Ferrari good for a 2.5-second 0-60 mph time. The powertrain is the most powerful of any Ferrari and puts the SF90 Stradale atop the Ferrari lineup.

The car also features an all-new chassis made of carbon fiber and aluminum. The sleek body panels and its aerodynamic shape help the model make a whopping 860 pounds of downforce at speed, and the whole profile of the car is extremely low so it can slash through the air at high speeds. It has a two-piece rear wing that comes from the company’s work in F1 racing.

While the SF90 Stradale features many firsts for the company, it’s not all new ideas. The car looks like a Ferrari and even has a flying buttress and a split glass area at the rear. The rectangular-shaped taillights and the dual exhaust ane absolutely gorgeous. At the front, you have a low nose and some interestingly shaped headlights that are new for the brand.

Inside the car, there’s a 16-inch fully digital HD screen and a driver’ focused cabin. The leather, Alcantara and other materials look unparalleled, and we actually like the fact that it’s not all carbon fibered out on the inside. It’s an attractive, modern, but simple interior built for the driver, and it’s as good looking as the exterior.

Ferrari SF90 Stradale is a 986-horsepower plug-in hybrid

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale has just been revealed, and the most important thing to know is that it’s Ferrari’s most powerful production car yet with 986 horsepower. The next most important thing to know is that it’s a plug-in hybrid with a turbocharged V8.

The powertrain features Ferrari’s most powerful V8 yet making 769 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque on its own. It also has three electric motors with two at the front and one in the back, and combined they can provide up to 217 horsepower. This also means that the SF90 Stradale is all-wheel-drive.

Getting power from the internal combustion powertrain to the wheels is an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission that shifts 100 milliseconds faster than the transmission in the 488 Pista, but it also weighs about 22 pounds less than Ferrari’s existing 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This is due in part to not needing a reverse gear, since reverse is handled by the front motors. In total, the SF90 weighs in at 3,461 pounds. And at 155 mph, the aerodynamics add 860 pounds of downforce. When everything is deployed on pavement, it hits 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds. And for Ferraristi, it lapped the Fiorano test track in 1 minute and 19 seconds.

Of course being a plug-in hybrid, it does have a full electric range. It’s a bit short at 15.5 miles. Then again, this isn’t entirely about fuel economy; the electric motors allows for torque vectoring, and provide extra traction on launch and help fill in any throttle lag from the gas engine.

The interior is high-tech, too. The instrument cluster is a huge 16-inch display. The steering wheel now features touch pads for controlling the instrument cluster, too.
