Part of the thrill of many extreme sports and excursions is the very real possibility of injury. But that thrill quickly turns to the feeling of defeat when you find yourself limping back to your car, on your way to the hospital for stitches. In some cases, however, leaving early may no longer be necessary. Zipstitch is the most advanced and non-invasive wound closure device available and it’s starting to make traditional stitches seem downright medieval. Unlike butterfly bandages and strips, Zipstitch has a zip-tie mechanism that allows you to customize tension across the cut and acts as a scaffold and cage to protect the wound. Zipstitch is faster than stitches with less scarring and pain, and Gear Patrol readers can get 10% off your order from ZipStitch with the code Gear10.

One of the best feelings in the world is putting on your favorite pair of jeans. They fit just right; they have broken-in to form around your body; the denim feels perfect. Then you lose them and it’s back to square one. That is why Woodies is making jeans that are completely custom from the hem to the rivets. You get to pick everything from the sizing, hardware and even get a choice between a button fly or zipper. All Woodies jeans are crafted from 12.75-ounce denim woven in LEED-certified mills, regardless of the wash. This is a keystone of Woodies’ commitment to sustainable, “slow” fashion. They also feature premium organic cotton that includes about two percent of stretch, allowing you to stay comfortable throughout the day. If they don’t nail the fit on your first pair, Woodies will remake them, free of charge. If you go back Woodies on Kickstarter now, you can save 42 percent. This isn’t Woodies’ first rodeo either; this is the brand’s sixth campaign, so you can rest easy knowing you’ll get your new pair of jeans (that will soon become your favorite).

The North Face Ventrix Insulated Jacket
Save $50: When The North Face revealed Ventrix, its first take on active insulation, we were skeptical. Active insulation, a form of synthetic insulation that’s meant to be worn during activity and is highly breathable, isn’t new — if anything, The North Face was quite late to the game. But Ventrix is different; its fluffy structure is perforated with tiny holes that close and expand as the body moves, allowing for dynamic temperature regulation. It’s an awesome concept, but again, when we first heard about it, we weren’t sold. But then we tried Ventrix — on hikes and ski tours and just around town — and it worked. It worked really well actually, so we included it on our list of Best Synthetic Down Jackets, where it’s remained since. We continue to stand by that choice even more so now that The North Face has expanded the scope of Ventrix into a variety of jackets (and a pair of wild-looking shorts). It’s still the most innovative iteration of active insulation we’ve seen, and right now you can even snag the original jacket in for $50 off. The deal only applies to the black Ventrix Jacket, but that color’s not likely to go out of style any time soon. — Tanner Bowden

Fender Special Edition Standard Jaguar Guitar
Save $50:Without a doubt, Fender is best known for making the iconic Stratocaster guitar. But the Arizona-based company also produces quite a few other models worth checking out. One of its lesser-known styles is the Jaguar, an instrument with an offset body, originally produced between 1962 and 1975. During that time, it was popular with surf rock guitarists, but after it went out of production, it became an onstage staple at punk, alternative and indie shows. During the ’80s, Fender produced a Japanese-made version of the instrument, and in ’99, due to the Jaguar’s underground popularity, the brand began producing the style again in earnest. If you’re looking to add this unique guitar to your arsenal, head over to Guitar Center today — currently you can save $50 on a Fender Special Edition Standard Jaguar guitar. The instrument comes in a Surf Pearl finish and has an alder body, a 22-fret maple neck and a Pau Ferro fingerboard. Unlike some of the single-coil models produced a half-century ago, this guitar has two humbucking pickups and a modern C shape neck. Normally $600, this guitar now costs $550 and includes free shipping.

Who Needs Leather? The Perfect Textile Motorcycle Jacket Is Just $175
Save 50%: Fall has officially arrived. The cool weather brings the opportunity to wear the coolest motorcycle gear — but before we fully succumb to the leathers and wool, take advantage of the fact that the extremely cool warm-weather-ready Roland Sands Design Ronin perforated textile jacket is currently featured on sale at RevZilla. The Ronin, like so much classy café racer-style gear, is largely composed of waxed cotton to stand up to a number of different weather conditions. It’s also lined with a cooling mesh interior. Although it is aimed at the around-town café racer rider, it has some adventure-riding features as well, like stretchy cargo stuff pockets and built-in shoulder and elbow pads. Most notable of all: the laser cut perforation that keeps things nice and breezy, but still leaves the jacket tough enough to stand up to abrasion. The Ronin’s cool design (and current sale price of just $175, which is 50% off the usual retail price) will help keep your pits dry during the waning warm months of riding. Or, y’know, you could always buy it now and save it for next spring.

Bonavita Coffee Maker
Save $88: Despite its name, the Connoisseur isn’t snooty. It features the same Gold Cup brewing standards as Bonavita’s older brewers — a one-button off-on interface and a flat bottom filter basket. Its most notable change is the basket-to-carafe connection. Instead of the basket resting atop the carafe during brewing (meaning you need to put the used grounds and filter basket on the counter or in the sink to pour coffee), it fits into a slot hanging over the pot. It’s a small change, and one we noted as one of the few issues with its predecessor. Today on Drop, the Connoisseur is marked down $88 — good for the lowest price we’ve seen. — Will Price

Giro Aether MIPS Helmet
Save $45: For those in the know in the helmet world, MIPS is a pretty big deal. All of which is to say, MIPS Spherical is pretty cutting-edge protective stuff, usually only available at a premium, such as the $370 cost of a Giro Aether MIPS Helmet. The favorite of a number of Tour de France riders, the helmet also boasts a laser-cut shell seamlessly fused to the EPS foam, Roc Loc 5 Plus easy adjustability and 11 deep vents for optimal ventilation. Right now it’s on sale for $325 (in the low-key coolest Olive/Citron colorway) at Competitive Cyclist. Talk about a safe bet.

At Just $399, This Iconic Motorcycle Jacket Is an Absolute Steal
Save 43%: Belstaff has been producing legendary motorsport apparel for nearly 100 years. Born from motorcyclists’ universal need for sturdy all-weather gear, Belstaff made a name for itself with its waxed-cotton-and-leather equipment. Developed for racers and adventurers, these jackets largely lived on the fringes until they were carried into the mainstream on the back of actor/racer/badass Steve McQueen. And if, like McQueen, you have your eye on a Belstaff, now is the time to pick one up at RevZilla.

The Belstaff Brooklands Jacket is an eight-ounce waxed cotton classic buzzing and ready for two-wheeled adventure. The Brooklands is made with removable armor in the shoulders and elbows, as well as a sleeve in the back to insert further protection. The Brooklands jacket was made with its namesake race track in mind, with an added padded layer for extra safety.

The jacket is not only made for a tightly-tucked cafe racer, it’s such a stylish design, it can be worn right off the track and straight to dinner. (There’s also a leather version, though it costs a fair amount more, especially with this sale in effect.) Buy this piece of gear as beautiful as it is rugged while the getting’s good. But every once in a while, a sweet deal surfaces on the eve of a new season, a golden opportunity for those with the alacrity to pounce. Such is the case with Arc’teryx’s top-of-the-line Alpha SV jacket, which Backcountry is currently moving at a 30 percent discount.

The ability to take the whole thing apart is also unique, and it allows for troubleshooting and fixing at home rather than losing your source of coffee to the mail for a few weeks (it’s also great for cleaning the machine).

But when a brand expands its use from, say, running sneakers to hiking shoes — the way Adidas has by incorporating a Boost foam midsole into its Terrex Free Hiker — you know it’s got legs, so to speak. We’re big believers in Boost, especially in its original incarnation as a running shoe ingredient. The super-responsive cushioning platform delivers a bouncy energy return with every stride, providing a significant mental lift to go along with the physical one.

AGV Corsa R Balda Helmet sale deal

The Motorcycle Helmet Your Brain Deserves Is $400 Off
Save 44%: Anyone who rides a motorcycle (or even knows someone who does) ought to know the value of a good helmet at this point. Leather and armor may work fine for those extremities and core, but your head — location to no fewer than four of your five senses, the foundation of that pretty mug of yours, and of course, home to that rather important chunk of gray between your ears — deserves a sturdier shield. And you’d be hard-pressed to find one better than the helmets whipped up by AGV.

That said, the part of your brain concerned with expenditures might normally be put off by AGV’s prices, and rightfully so; the Italian brand’s lids can run well into four-digit prices. Luckily, there are bargains to be had if you don’t mind being a step or two behind the current fashion trends. The AGV Corsa R Baldy seen here may have a 2016 design, but it still offers world-class protection and a design perfect for both track riding and sporty street corner carving.

This is the Apollo 11 moon landing-inspired watch you haven’t seen yet. The SVPER11 takes its inspiration of the moon landing very literally, with the watch face depicting the exact landing area in a 3D topographical rendering. But the references to the Apollo 11 mission don’t stop there. The crown is modeled on the oxygen valves from the front of the same model of spacesuit used on the mission and the technical ceramic caseback features a mention of the mission. The next unique element is the metal clasp with exact coordinates of the moon landing, laser-etched into its surface. Thanks to a Seiko movement you can be sure it will keep consistent time with its sweeping second hand which appears like a radar constantly marking the landing site. This is the only Apollo 11 anniversary memento you could ever need. You can pre-order it now on Kickstarter and get up to 34 percent off the retail price. You can use the code “GPReader” and SVPER11 will include matching Apple Watch converters for the strap, so you can swap the unique strap between the SVPER11 and your Apple Watch.

Arc’teryx Cerium LT Hooded Down Jacket
Save $114: For months now, we’ve been stressing that the best time to score cold-weather gear, particularly awesome down jackets, is when it’s not cold out. Today serves up yet more proof, in that the legendary Arc’teryx Cerium LT Hooded Down Jacket is currently on sale for a whopping $114 off at Backcountry. I have the non-hooded version of this jacket, and it’s just about perfect for fall weather — and with proper layering, winter weather as well.

Dropping from $379 to $265 makes for quite a steal — as long as you’re not too picky. Don’t worry, the jacket is available in small through extra large. However, only one of the 10 colors is so sharply discounted: Deep Cove, which is sort of a light blue. But honestly, it’s a pretty good-looking color, and a month or so from now — if not sooner — you’ll be stoked to have it in your wardrobe.

Note: A couple other colors, Nocturne (a midnight blue) and Neptune (a sea green), are discounted to $305 in select sizes. — Steve Mazzucchi

L.L. Bean Boots
Save 20%: Heritage New England outdoor brand L.L.Bean has been in business for over 100 years. Its first-ever product? The sort-of ugly, undeniably-iconic Bean Boot. The boots have spread beyond hunting though, and now come in different heights with various linings for different temperatures and uses.

Right now, there’s an extensive collection of Bean Boot models (as well as apparel) up for sale on L.L.Bean’s website — just use the code SPLASH20 at checkout. — John Zientek
