This Swanky Rose Gold G-Shock is Affordable and Tough as Ever

Casio x Kith
Classic Casio G-Shock models like the squarish G5600 series and the rounder G6900 are famously indestructible, inexpensive, and encased in plastic. (Never mind the irony that premium-priced, metal-cased versions of these iconic G-Shocks seem to work so well — because they do.) Following the release of recent G-Shock GM6900 watches with steel outer cases in black, silver, and yellow gold finishes, a collaboration with apparel retailer Kith NYC has resulted in an even swankier limited edition in rose gold.
Props to Kith for choosing a positive (dark-on-light) LCD display for its vastly superior legibility (and its classic style). This tier of metal-cased watches, in fact, merely represents a steel cover atop a more traditional plastic inner case, so none of the famous G-Shock toughness should be compromised. (If you want fully metal-cased G-Shocks, these are available, though they’re more expensive and not yet available in this 6900 form.)
Kith’s G-Shock interpretation stands out most for its rose gold case, but there are a number of other notable details and Kith branding that differentiate from other GM6900 models. The prominent button at 6 o’clock is emblazoned with “KITH” instead of its usual “G,” and the resin band and its rose gold-toned keeper also feature the retailer’s logo.
This is a limited edition for the partnership available at physical retail locations and on the Kith website, though the number of pieces produced has not yet been confirmed. It also commands a price premium of $150 in this version over the non-limited yellow gold version directly from G-Shock, which is typical for such special-edition G-Shocks. The Kith x Casio G-Shock GM6900 has a price of $380 and comes with two Kith-branded resin straps in black and white.

Timex Goes Above & Beyond With MK1 & Timex Command™
The Allied Series is great but the second and third series of military style watches from Timex helps to seal them in for a very long time among the best military watch brands. They’re called the MK1 Aluminum Series and Timex Command™ Shock Series. These are brands that put them on the list of the best military watch brands in the world, in our opinion.
If you thought the Allied line had a lot, wait until you check these out. The Timex Command™ Shock Series has the same INDIGLO® Night-Light that the Allied Series has, but this also comes with a Night-Mode setting.
It also comes with a dual mode alarm for vibration and audio alerts and a stopwatch with a 100-hour Chronograph for the lap and split times as well as a 24-hour countdown timer. This model also comes with three different timezone settings, 24-hour display option, Hydration Alarm, and contains the date via Month & Day.
It’s also shock resistant and water resistant for up to 100 meters. This offers legendary durability that Timex is well-known for. They also come in a ton of camo colors that you can choose from.
Meanwhile, the MK1 Aluminum Series contains much of the same things, minus the shock resistance. It’s made from “aircraft-quality steel” according to Timex, making it extremely durable.
It also comes with a fabric strap that slightly differs from the Allied Series, but can offer much of the same things.

Casio G-Shock GA-2000-1A2 Carbon Core
Luxurious timepieces look great if you’re attending the Met Gala, sure. But for something far more robust, there’s no better choice than the Casio G-Shock. This, the G-Shock GA-2000-1A2 Carbon Core can take some serious abuse and still look brutally cool all the while.
G-Shock watches are popular for their tough and built-to-last designs. They’re great companion timepieces for people venturing out into laborious conditions, especially in the outdoors. For decades, few have rivaled the watch lineup’s quality. This year, however, the formula gets a slight revamp with the Carbon Core GA-2000-1A2. This unit borrows heavily from Carbon aerospace design by integrating carbon fiber throughout the entire build. The result is a G-Shock that’s as tough and robust as its older siblings, but lighter.
To achieve the Carbon Core case, Casio combined resin with carbon fiber. This made for a case that’s in fact more durable than either of those materials individually. It’s also very light at just 64 grams, which is a full 10 grams less than typical G-Shocks. Don’t take its lightness for fragility, though. Mind you, it’s still got a monocoque construction that’s can withstand severe shock. And it’s water-resistant down to 200 meters.
It’s also a nice-looking gear when treated solely as a timepiece. There’s the Japanese quartz movement underneath, an a watch face that’s very legible with both digital and analog readouts.
