Amazon Prime Day 2019: Your Guide to the Best Deals

Don’t miss the deals: sign up for the Gear Patrol Deals Newsletter to receive our deal announcements and product picks directly in your inbox.

    What is Amazon Prime Day?

Just like the holidays, the birthday you’re dreading and the Super Bowl, Amazon Prime Day comes merely once a year. Similar to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Prime Day is a chance to save tons of money on a plethora of products — massive discounts and savings are the name of the game. There are so many deals that it’s tough for one person to sift through them all. Which is why we’re here, to let you know about the best sales we find all throughout Prime Day 2019, in real-time. So bookmark this page and get ready to save.

    When is Prime Day?

For 2019, Amazon has decided to run Prime Day for a full 48 hours starting on Monday, July 15 at 12 a.m. PST (3 a.m. EST) and running through 11:59 PST (2:59 a.m. EST) on Tuesday, July 16.

Do you have to be an Amazon Prime member?

This may seem obvious, but to take advantage of all the incredible Prime Day deals you must be an Amazon Prime member. A full-year membership costs $119. If you only plan on shopping discounts for Prime Day, it’s probably not worth it — unless you’re a Taylor Swift fan and also want to watch her exclusive Prime Music concert on July 10 on Prime Video. But if you plan on utilizing the other Prime features (like year-round free two-day shipping, Prime Video, Prime Music and more), then it’s definitely worth signing up. If you’re a student you can even get a discount on a Prime membership: sign up for a six-month free trial plus 50 percent off of a yearly membership if you decide to buy.

    Prime Day tips

Setting up price alerts is a huge help that can be fairly easily done. It will also help you sift through the mind-numbing amount of sales that Amazon churns out for Prime Day. Using a website like Camelcamelcamel is a free and simple to way import your Amazon wishlist and get notifications when your items go below the price alert you’ve set. Making price alerts is one of the best ways to plan in advance for Prime Day.

Keep in mind, there are also other deals to be had across the web during July 15 and 16. Target just recently announced its own Target Deal Day for the same dates that don’t require any membership. Other big box stores and retail websites like Best Buy, Walmart and more offer up sometimes better deals on the same day(s) as Prime Day as well.

Have a plan. It can be overwhelming seeing so many sales happening all at once. So having a wishlist for what you are actually in the market for can be a key to not realizing you’ve spent way over your budget at the end of the two days of Prime Day.

Trust us. We sift through products and deals all day long to deliver you the ones you can’t miss. And it’s our duty to make sure if it’s worthwhile, you’ll hear from us about it. Bookmark this page and keep checking back for updates and more information.

The Gear Patrol x Mountain Standard Utility Glove is Now On Sale

We’ve teamed up with our friends at Mountain Standard to create the perfect mountain glove for all your winter adventures, from the slopes to the subway.

The Gear Patrol x Mountain Standard glove is a warm, durable and waterproof glove that stands up to a wide range of cold-weather activities. Ultra-durable goat leather and stitching reinforcements stand up to severe conditions and manual labor, while thoughtful details like outward seaming, hang loops, and a detachable leash round off a versatile glove that’s built to your standards.

Free domestic shipping in the USA.

    Materials

    • Premium Goat Leather Main Body: highly durable, naturally waterproof
    • Waterproof Microfleece Interior Liner: extra protection for wet & heavy days
    • Neoprene Cuff with Velcro Closure: under the cuff styling to keep snow out
    • Primaloft Insulation: ultimate lightweight warmth in every condition
    • Detachable Leash: easily adjust for any adventure

    Features

    Outward Seaming

Outward-facing seams along the fingers help increase comfort, reduce bulk and keep dexterity on point, so you’re not forced to face the elements unprotected every time you need to unzip your coat.

    Reinforced Palm

Extra reinforcement where it’s needed most.  Feel confident in the strength of your gloves while swinging an axe, gathering firewood or doing any other rugged outdoor work.

    Hang Dry Loop

The perfect loop to hang your gloves from your bag, the fireplace, a tree or anything else you can find.  Hanging your gloves upside down from the hang loop helps them dry faster and prevents any additional snow or water from getting inside the glove.

    Detachable Wrist Leash

Perfect for when your hands are heating up in the lift line or on the trail, and removable for those cold days that your gloves don’t leave your hands.

    Top of Hand Padding

No need to worry about getting whipped by those little branches as you ski through the woods. These gloves are equipped with significant padding on the back of the hand and knuckles which comes in handy when touring through trees and banging your hand on rocks and gear.

    Pull Tab and Neoprene Cuff

Pull tab makes it easy to pull on with cold hands or while wearing a glove.  Neoprene cuff with velcro closure ensures your gloves will tuck under your jacket to keep the warmth in and the elements out.

What is Cyber Monday? Unlike Black Friday, whose origins can be traced back nearly half a century, Cyber Monday is a relatively new phenomenon. Initially started in 2005 as a simple promotional scheme to increase holiday sales for an early e-commerce site, it has since ballooned into a multi-billion dollar retail event that rivals Black Friday. And for good reason. On the last Monday of November, every year online retailers big and small roll out really competitive deals for holiday shoppers. Of course, with any event of this size, half the battle is just finding out what is on sale where. So to help our readers our we’re dedicating Cyber Monday to sifting through all of the sales to pick out the best of the best.

When is Cyber Monday? This year Cyber Monday will be Monday, November 26th.

Black Friday 2018: Your Guide to the Best Deals

Don’t miss the deals: sign up for the Gear Patrol Deals Newsletter to receive our deal announcements and product picks directly in your inbox. You can also follow our Deals Twitter account for up-to-the-moment deal news through Black Friday.

What is Black Friday? The official kick-off to the holiday shopping season, Black Friday is when both online and brick & mortar retailers make steep cuts on their inventory in an attempt to get foot traffic in their stores and full shopping carts online. Depending on who you ask, you’ll get different answers for why we all call the fourth Friday of November Black Friday. According to some, it’s a reference to a relatively obscure gold market crash in the mid-to-late 1800. Others will say that the name has stuck because it is when retailers go from operating ‘in the red’ (at a loss), to being ‘in the black’ for the year. Whatever the reason, the end result is the same, this is the time of the year that there are more deals than what you can shake a stick at. So, to help navigate you, dear reader, through this morass of savings and one-time-offers, we’ve combed the web for the best Black Friday deals available.

When is Black Friday? Black Friday lands on Friday, November 23rd. But that isn’t the only major sales event of the season. The following Monday will feature tons of deals from tech companies and online retailers.
