Nike is bringing back its Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Trail to its rightful place — the backcountry, the outdoors, or wherever it’s perfect to hike through. Arriving for the first since debuting in the 2000s, Nike’s Pegasus 36 Trail introduces some of the original features that made it the choice travel footwear. With hiking-specific modifications thrown in, of course.
For the mesh uppers, Nike added more breathability. The material here can endure any harsh conditions, complete with durable armaments robust enough to survive tough abrasions. But at the end of the day, they’re still the beloved shape, fit and feel of the road runner.
The Zoom Air Elements hide in the forefoot cushion as well as the heel. Enlarged lugs maintain a high level of traction, which you’ll be thankful for when hiking while raining. That’s never a good idea, of course. But fret not about puddles and downpours, as these kicks will make sure you’re always moving and squarely on the ground.
Design is minimalistic, the only highlight being the synthetics in hi-vis Volt. There’s a much deeper green, but only in hints and splashes. A touch of black snakes across the lining, eyestay, and signature Swoosh. It won’t win any awards on aesthetics, but it sure as hell will on design and craft-making.
This pair is available now if you’re in Europe and a member of NikePlus. As for the rest, expect this to go on shelves beginning June 13. Check out below for more photos of the Pegasus 36 Trail, and hit the link for more information while you’re at it.
