7 New Bike Products You Should Definitely Know About

There’s a lot happening in the cycling world right now. Most eyes will be turned to France and the most important race of the year, the Tour. (That’s the Tour.) Rightly so — the race kicked off only days ago and has already provided plenty of spectacle: three-time defending champ Chris Froome crashed into a field during stage one; Peter Sagan donned the yellow jersey after a stage two win; BMC bested Team Sky in the stage three team time trial by four seconds.

There’s a second gathering of bike lovers happening concurrently over in Friedrichshafen, Germany, Eurobike. It’s the world’s largest bicycle trade show, and it brings together brands, enthusiasts and industry insiders from across the globe. It’s also a common launchpad for the newest bike products that we’ll be seeing released by companies over the coming weeks and months. Like the Tour de France, Eurobike is only a few days into its full duration, but there’s already plenty to be excited about. Here are a few cool things we thought you should check out between stages.

CeramicSpeed Driven Drivetrain

CeramicSpeed’s Driven drivetrain has already won the Eurobike Award, which commends design within the bike industry. The system eliminates the chain for a shaft and bearings instead. In reality, it’s a bit more complicated than that, but the key takeaway is that there’s a lot less friction in the system — CeramicSpeed claims it to be the most efficient drivetrain available.

Elite Fuoripista Trainer

Eurobike is a good venue to encounter the unexpected, like this trainer by Elite that’s part modern art, with the idea being it’s pretty enough not to hide in a garage or crammed into a closet. It’s wood, glass and aluminum and pairs with Zwift and other training software.
