If you’re building a home theater system yet also want to use it to stream music, over Bluetooth or Apple’s AirPlay, Yamaha’s new A/V receivers — the Aventage RX-A 80 series — are great components to consider. There are a lot of great A/V receivers that are seemingly just as capable, admittedly, made by the likes of Marantz, Sony, Onkyo and even Yamaha, but the real draw of Yamaha’s new series is their Surround:AI technology. Essentially, each reciever uses artificial intelligence to automatically adjust the audio levels in specific movie scenes so that they sound better. If it’s an important dialogue scene, for example, the system will intuitively tone down the background noise to make it easier to hear what the characters are saying; according to the company, it “makes for a clearer, more engaging listening experience.”
All six receivers in the Aventage RX-A 80 series also feature MusicCast Surround, a wireless technology allows users to use their wireless speakers as the left and right channel speakers in their home theater system. You don’t have to really worry about the receivers working with your new 4K HDR TV, as they support HDR10, Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log-Gamma standards. They also are compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X speakers, which create a more immersive experience thanks to their ability to create virtual height channels. (The sound seems like it’s coming all around you.)
