Back when the PC gaming was on its way up, a startup company made a name for itself by assembling notebooks, workstations, and desktops. Starting out as Sakai of Miami and later renaming it to Alienware. The name change was due to its founders’ penchant for the science fiction hit TV series The X-Files. Now, it’s about to refresh its gaming laptop catalog with the 2018 Alienware M15 as it sports top-tier specs and a new form factor.
The manufacturer was eventually acquired by Dell in 2006 and directly competed with the XPS lineup of gaming-centric computers. Since then, we’ve seen the brand release products that flaunt futuristic designs and technology. It came to a point wherein gamers considered owning an Alienware-branded machine as a badge of honor. However, these days, consumers prefer to own laptops that are sleek and slim, so the 2018 M15 delivers exactly what they want.
Advancements in display technology now allow manufacturers to shrink the bezels on their products. This gives engineers the freedom to rearrange components to maximize space. We all know that proper ventilation can improve performance, so the designers went a little overboard and used every available space on its copper and magnesium chassis to install thermal vents.
You can choose to have a 15.6-inch FHD or 4K screen installed to meet your requirements. Owners can equip their machines with the latest Intel Core i5 or i7 chipsets with up to 32GB of RAM. The massive 90Wh battery will last up to 17 hours, but gaming can drastically reduce that number. NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1060 or 1070 Max-Q c GPUs handle graphics. The 2018 Alienware M15 will launch with a base model priced at $1,299.
